I'm pleased. I wasn't sure if I wanted a biopic more, but if we can cut through the cliches I have high hopes.

We are getting a biopic too in the shape of the Joan & Jackie TV series (though there's been no news on that since 2019, so who knows)

This was very watchable. It was made by the family (who blatantly hate Joan :D) so it doesn't dig too deep and there's no huge reveals, but it was great to see her life and career mapped out.

Some of the talking heads though :D Joan CONVINCED that Jackie came back as a FLY and then her "friend" who kept going on about how much work Jackie needed done on her face because she was so ugly and fat. What a bitch! :D

This should be the official press release!

Just watched this on iPlayer. Some proper HIGH CAMP talking heads.

But, oh my god, that Kilroy appearance. Did they just invite her to roast her? :bruised:

I remember it- and yes they did. She really was vilified for some time in the 90s.

Anyway, the film is great. And although I obviously knew her before, I’d entirely forgotten the way she spoke and just how spot on the French and Saunders spoof was. The US tv advert was AMAZING :D :disco:

She was always so much more down to earth and downright bubbly than her aloof, astringent, Tory supporting sister
I file Jackie and Joan Collins next to Christopher and Peter Hitchens, in the sense that THE WRONG ONE DIED

Just seen this! Brilliantly made and full of admiration for Jackie. I loved the best friend’s astonishingly plain speaking analysis of Jackie’s pre-surgery ugliness and her book agent who praised her lack of literary tendencies.

Also she really had great handwriting.

Her handwriting was really fantastic. They started reissuing her books with little handwritten notes about them at the start, but they only did a few for some reason.
