UK: The Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson years - problematic + infected + broke the law + electoral poison + sneks + not very good + OVER (funny)

The King of the Swingers no longer has a queen :(

if we ignore the rumours about another type of queen

The co-leader of the Greens has stepped down to give his successor time to prepare for an early election. There seem to be a lot of rumblings that this is on the cards... :zombie:

Obviously the Tories would still win, but I was hoping the two recent by-election bloody noses might have put them off a bit. But most likely Boris is itching to step down at this point, the lazy cunt.

That feels risky. Hubris, especially with the pandemic waiting to be politicised, could make it an absolute disaster for the Tory's. Labour would have won comfortably without Galloway there, and he can't stand in all 650 seats.

I’m not convinced by this recent by by-election win by Labour. The fact that Keir had to go up and visit to take the credit for what was some sort of Labour comeback when they won by 300 votes in an area of England that Tories wouldn’t previously even touch, suggests that they’re clutching at straws somewhat. Labour feels desperate at the moment. It cannot be easy being the opposition party during a drawn out crisis, but there’s no way anyone is beating the Tories right now.

while the Tories play populism and the left continues to be divided by 3 parties, anything but a coalition, which they’ve all refused to partake in, is futile.

the only chance Labour has in the next 5 years is if covid goes away and the Right starts to split again between moderate Tories and the far right, and/or someone like Andy Burnham comes along and creates some sort of Blair like PR momentum that unites the left away from Libs and Green long enough to take power. It’s all a big if.

I admit I bought into the doom and gloom around the Batley & Spen by-election, but on reflection Kim Leadbetter was a really strong candidate. I think she can take a huge amount of credit for scraping Labour over the line there, though yes you do have to wonder if the Tories would have been in any way competitive without Galloway. I wouldn't pin my hopes on it reflecting a nationwide shift, especially with an 80 seat majority to overcome.

Absolute best case scenario would probably be a repeat of 2017, with the Tories taking a big hit but still getting over the line - and frankly that's optimistic.

What would the Tories have to gain from calling an election when they've got a huge majority? Surely if Johnson wanted to step down he could do so and just hand his majority on to Sunak or whoever is waiting in the wings.

Starts the clock again for 5 years. If they think they will win and win comfortably, hands the next pm their own mandate for 5 years, and also means the elections will be before and far enough after the COVID enquiry.

I wouldn't put it past him...

I can see the Tories going to the polls on an "anti-woke" ticket. If England win the Euros, they will want to jockey off the back of the nationalistic fervour that will result i.e. this proves we are a wonderful country, let's put in a Parliament that will demonstrate that by deporting brown people, destroying LGBT rights and putting the EU "in their place".

However, I can also see them doing this without going to the polls so...y'know.

Do they really need to hold and election for Boris to leave? It's a risk...what if the party appoint someone even more useless than Starmer i.e. @Liz Truss

Batley and Spen is no Hartlepool. It was Conservative from 1979 to 1997. (admittedly there were some different boundaries prior to 1992)

This government is filth, as is anyone who voted for them. Cutting foreign aid - which accounts for 0.fuckall of our budget in the first place - is literally condemning people to death just to win a few votes from the sort of knuckle-dragging cunts who are too fucking thick to spell 'x' on a ballot anyway.

Theresa May (and John Major actually) are like the British George Bush - the current right wing leaders make them look like socialist heroes by comparison

BBC News leading on Dominic Cummings sticking the knife in again rather than ‘Freedom Day’.

Boris didn’t believe the NHS would be overwhelmed and Covid didn’t matter as it was mainly over 80s dying.

It's like the gays, drug addicts and AIDs all over again.

And never mind the NHS 'not being overwhelmed', what about all the cancelled cancer, heart etc and routine ops? He totally believed it would be overwhelmed. He wanted it to be overwhelmed and collapse.

Apparently DOMCUM had to talk Boris out of going to visit the Queen for a face-to-face meeting during March last year :D

I'm obviously all for this twat slinging as much mud as he can onto Johnson and the rest of that shower of CUNTS but him spilling the beans about how incompetent and arrogant everyone in Government is rings UTTERLY HOLLOW when he was MEMBER NO. 2 of that fucking club until not long ago and treated everyone in the country with the same level of contempt when caught breaking the rules, the sanctimonious prick!

On a more light-hearted note, nice of Laura to bring out the snake print and the hoop earrings so she can finally LOOK as SHIT as she TALKS.

Just as the tide seemed to be turning on Boris's shambolic handling of... well... everything, they pull the NI Protocol stunt, to get the swivel-eyed gammons back on board (because the EU are literally Satan). Sorry to you British girls but I hope the EU blockades the island. Show me that vulnerability / Blitz spirit that the judges have been asking for!

It struck me yesterday what Boris’ exit strategy might be.

COVID goes out of control again, forcing another hard lockdown before the end of the year. Boris, now known to be staunchly anti-lockdown, resigns in ’protest’ leaving the mess in the hands of either Sunak or Gove.

I can totally see it happening.

I think it is nigh on impossible for Johnson to leave this year without it being in disgrace. He has fucked this up completely and even his chums in the press are now struggling to find an angle - this attempt to blame the app isn't landing despite the snappy "pingdemic" slogan. He wants out at the point where people want him out. He should just go now - he'll land on his feet anyway.

I'm so fatigued by imagining the potential end-game and then being all "I can't" at the fat knacker (copyright Geri Halliwell-Horner, pre-body-positivity) still hanging on.
