My coworker shared this on Facebook. Is it anti-vax? I feel like it is

It feels defensive. If you're discussing things intelligently and constructively there's no need to share a statement that someone else clearly wrote. Nobody actually equates questioning to being "anti" anyway, so they're being triggered by something. They should say what's on their mind and enough with the cryptic shit.

Anyone who declares themselves to be "of reason" or "Just Asking Questions" (JAQ, or JAQing off), IMO, is anti-alotofthings, such as the "Voice of Reason" guy on Youtube who calls it the Kung Flu and shits out endless whinge videos about "face nappies" and restrictions, now that he's temporarily distracted from complaining about lefties, Muslims, trans people etc.

Wondering out loud really here, but is there a particular reason for sticking to the 8-12 weeks dosing timeframe? I know there was a study which suggested that you might get a better immune response with an extended time between doses, but the reason we pursued it in the first place was purely strategic in terms of getting jabs in arms. Most countries seem to be quite happy with 3-4 week intervals from what I can see, and it now seems to be giving rise to this kind of thing:

Given what we know about how transmissible the delta variant is, and how one jab appears to afford people significantly less protection, is is there not an argument for getting people double dosed as quickly as possible? There may well be some good operational reasons around vaccine supply, but it seems odd to me that these pop-up centres are springing up, and clearly happy to give people jabs ahead of schedule*, but they're being held back by official guidelines, which perhaps seem a little arbitrary.

*my sister and her partner turned up to one such place and got their second vax within about 4 weeks of their first. I got contacted by my GP for a second jab within 6 weeks, so there's clearly something of a lack of consistency on this front!

I guess my concern is in the context of a Tory government with a new Health Sec whose opening gambit is "let's open everything up as soon as possible!!" when we're hitting 20k cases a day :D

Double-jabbed.

I asked Indie to remove me from the Covid-Forum back in May because I noticed how I was getting more and more exhausted and frustrated by the situation everywhere, so I wanted to keep Moopy "covid-free" for a while and ultimately, I think that was a good choice.

I still have to go get an anti-body test in September to make sure all is well due to my physical pre-conditions but I've had a physical response to the first and second jab, so I'm optimistic.

Second jab today. I don't feel any effect so far. Some people are telling me to take a tablet to prevent any pain, but I refuse unless I actually feel any pain. I don't even have an aching arm (it was slightly sore after the first one), so I can't complain.

I agree, what's the point of taking pain meds if you're not in pain! But if you are, GO FOR IT

Well I thought I escaped it but 30 hours later and my body feels like it’s been run over. I was fine this morning and full of energy and now I can’t move.

(also ended up getting a second Pfizer despite them emailing me and saying they’re only giving Moderna)

How have people been doing with side effects? I’ve had a small but irritating headache most of the day, which is not uncommon for me, but I’ve had plenty of stuff to drink

Got zero side effects from my first Moderna.
Nor me !
However am trying to be sympathetic to the side effects of second jab which appear to be temperature and very very achy.

I didn't have any, but I don't remember if I ever had a real headache, so I guess it makes sense.

I had side effects to the first, but nothing to the second. I believe the opposite seems to be more common, though.

Did many people have significant side effects to both - or neither?

Had probably the worst side affects to any vaccine I've ever had after my first (AZ). I was ill for about three days and still not really right till a week later. The second one affected me for about an evening.

I had nothing with my second (AZ) either @lolly
I've anecdotally heard that Pfizer 2nd dose is worse than the first whereas AZ is the opposite

I was vaccinated along with all of one of the staff in one of health centres where I'm based. We all had Pfizer. One of the GPs there is the lead for the vaccination centre.

Obviously it's not a massive sample in terms of drawing anything definite from it, but he commented that with Pfizer he felt it was about 50/50 between reactions to first or second, but that people who were affected by the second seemed to have more significant side effects.

First Pfizer was almost unnoticeable for me - maybe slightly tired the day after.

After the second one, it was headaches on and off from day 2 to day 5, along mild flu symptoms (interrupted sleep, feeling hot and cold, mild nausea). Glad I had it on a Friday.

I had side effects for both Pfizer, the second was worse though and lasted longer.

Same. First shot was feeling a bit rough for about 24 hours, the second was really rough for a week.

Well the end of day 2, my arm is still sore but I didn’t really have a headache today.

however I have been checking my body temperature regularly and just before bed it was higher than normal, like almost one degree. They use armpit ones here, so my digital one was 37.4, they say normally to stay at home if it’s 37.5 or more :/

I don’t FEEL hot though, just tired

AZ? This was me. Proper rough from the first and fine for the second, if a little tired on the second day.

Seems to be a common thread for AZ, though there are exceptions because of all the variables.

No, Pfizer.
