I felt terrible after both doses (AZ), but the 2nd dose side effects were slightly reduced.

Wish me luck am doing it on Saturday.
JABS BOOKED :o

it'll be Pfizer for me as well. I wonder if I'll experience side effects and to what degree now that I've already had the ILLNESS
Don't know if it helps but my bf had the illness from mid September to mid October and got his first jab last week.
It was the Pfizer shot and didn't feel a thing, no pain in the arm, no fever, no fatigue, no headaches, no side-effects at all.
His mom who also had the same time frames between illness and the jab had some fever on the second day after the shot but that was all, she was fine by the third, on Pfizer as well.

Just brought my second appointment forward 3 weeks. The NHS website now lets you check availability before you cancel your existing appointment.
Fantastic, thanks. Have brought mine forward by 2 weeks now. Now it’s not on the Saturday evening of the bank holiday weekend, I may actually be able to make some plans.

oh yeah that is unusual then. Most people are bad on the second one.
That's true. Is the dose different or is it the same one? Maybe it's a stupid question and it's well known, but I have no idea. If they're the same it's funny you have more effects after the second one, so I guess maybe it's a stronger dose?

Had my second AZ stabbing this lunchtime. Thought I could just nip out in my half hour based on my first one at the GP being a quick in-jab-out in 5 minutes. Well this one was at our local "vaccination centre" instead and ugh... so much fannying around, and people moving at glacial pace. 50 minutes later I end up apologising and taking half an hour of annual leave.

Thankfully my whatever-the-fuck from the weekend (no classic symptoms and 2 negative LFTs) has gone away aside from a tickly cough as the rest of the crud works it's way out, making it easier to discern any side effects. Plus I got the impression they'd have turned me away if I had any symptoms of any sort.

So far my shoulder is aching but I think it's unrelated.

I had an appointment today to do the first shot at night so that the heat (we have a heatwave) would have cooled down but now the hospital called me and said you can come anytime you like even now. Should I go now and be done with it?

Settled,am going there in an hour. :disco:
I'm going to feel guilty if the heat gets you now, take a portable fan!

I thought the stronger effects might be because your body knows what it is the the second time and comes to fuck it up a bit more aggressively.

but then I don’t know why the AZ would be the other way around. It IS a different type though, maybe it’s more noticeable to the immune system so it piles on, and the second time it’s sort of over it?

very technical of course :eyes:

I wasn't particularly jealous of other people in the UK getting their jabs before me, that seemed fine. What I am jealous of is people having got their jabs in a lockdown situation. My second is tomorrow, and I'm having to give up some social events becuase of it. Boo.

Didn't notice any effects of the second AZ dose at all (I still think the shoulder thing was because of how I was leaning in a meeting before it)

Completely unscientific speculation but I reckon for the adenovirus vaccines the body is seeing "actual virus" (albeit defanged) and ramping up the defenses first time, then second time it knows how to deal with it. But that for the mRNA ones the immune system is effectively being "programmed" by something that doesn't look like a virus so doesn't react, but second time it recognises it as "that sneaky bastard that got in and reprogrammed my immune system" and reacts accordingly. But this unscientific speculation comes with the problem that you'd have to keep "disguising" various booster shots so that the immune system doesn't just recognise "sneaky reprogramming thing" and get rid of it.

yeah I think that’s the same as what I said but both of us took a large paragraph to say it so I can’t tell :D

Moderna. Didn't get anything on the first dose.

Chills have mostly subsided but aches and general flu tiredness remains.

I realise there is little interest on Moopy for this, but I've read a few articles about how the vaccines can affect your periods and I've noticed that it's happened to me :o

They're just starting to find patterns from the vaccines and I'm sure there'll be a lot more stuff published in the months to come.

Inflamed hearts is the new one from Pfizer :zombie: but the distribution of the information needs to be carefully managed - the figures were something like 200 people in 150m vaccinations. You're probably more likely to die from paracetemol.

The heart thing side-effect is the AZ and Johnson thrombosis equivalent to mRnas ie their rare but worse side-effect. Has been seen in Moderna shots too, it's just that Pfizer is much more commonly the vaccine of choice. That's the reason I postponed my shot a few weeks ago cause I basically got scared and wanted to have the time to read about it a little more and compare the doses administered with the fatal ones. But I've never heard about any of the vaccines affecting pms, how does it affect it Mrs @Star?

Oh really? Nothing seems different for me but I've only had one since first vax, not counting the one that started ON the day of the appointment.

A lot of people have reported their period is delayed after having the vaccine, even for weeks at a time! I did panic a bit I must say :D

I'm getting my second Pfizer tomorrow. I definitely felt a little off for some time after the previous one so we'll see what this one has in store.
Hopefully you'll be the same as me. Dodgy after the first Pfizer, nothing but a slightly sore arm after the second.
