UK: The Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson years - problematic + infected + broke the law + electoral poison + sneks + not very good + OVER (funny)

Johnson was a means to an end to get Brexit over the line. He's not especially useful now, other than that he is (paradoxically) electable, and if that seems to be in danger then the Tories will knife him without hesitation. The "Let the bodies pile high" and only old people dying comments will have pissed off a large swathe of would-be Tory voters, and another lockdown will piss off the headbangers on the other side. Unless by some miracle everything goes well with this opening up, he's surely gone?

(Johnson increases majority in 2024 election...)

Unfortunately, I think you're all overthinking this in regards to Boris leaving. The general electorate have shown many times now they don't care about any of the above. They love Boris, and think he's "done his best!!!" throughout all of this.

He'll leave when he wants to, and not before. I have no doubt he will win every election he chooses to stand for - he's like TEFLON!

Some of the things the Tories have shuffled through the commons this week in regards to asylum seekers and the freedom of press have been nothing short of HORRIFYING!

I'm trying to speak it into existence.

Boris, Gove, Raab and Priti in prison. Brexit reversed and the UK adopting the Euro and Schengen. @RaspberrySwirl's federal European buss foaming.

I very sadly can't see Johnson going anywhere. He has incredible political charisma and is utterly Teflon. He'll only go when he wants to go.

Presumably half of the Labour Party would hate her though as seems to be the case for anyone that gets put forward.

PR would sort this kind of mess out but I can't see that coming any time soon either.

I think it is nigh on impossible for Johnson to leave this year without it being in disgrace. He has fucked this up completely and even his chums in the press are now struggling to find an angle - this attempt to blame the app isn't landing despite the snappy "pingdemic" slogan. He wants out at the point where people want him out. He should just go now - he'll land on his feet anyway.

but the English love him because he’s so daft and he speaks his mind without fear of consequence, and he worries about himself and his chums over the wider issues. He couldn’t be more English if he tried!

And by English I don’t mean Liverpool or Manchester or Bristol or London etc. I mean the rest of this godforsaken, ignorant, spoilt, privileged country.

three lions my ARSE!

With an additional break up of the union and a reunion of Ireland to add salt to injury. 🙏
As an Irish citizen I stan the idea of a humiliation for the UK in terms of territorial loss (although the swivel-eyed loons would blame it all on the EU anyway), but also cut to me as an Irish citizen not wanting that dysfunctional hell-hole interfering with Ms. Eire's high-living standards and fast-growing economy.

Here for a United Ireland

you have to be careful who you might upset with this because it’s such a mess but one thing is for sure, the English have long outstayed their welcome when it comes to any part of Ireland.

As Billy Connolly would say, you had a go lads, we gave you a few thousand years, you fucked it, it’s OVEEEEEERRRR!!!!

Irish people who want a united Ireland never consider just how much their taxes will go up to cover the cost of getting rid of all those Union Jack post-boxes, kerbs, lamp posts and dog-poo bins. And that's without even touching on all the murals of Princess Di hugging Arlene Foster.

Couldn't give a fuck about offending the sort of person who is still for NI to be honest.

Haulage companies would pay for it because they wouldn't lose 200,000 pallets a year to the daft orange bonfires.

There is a serious problem with the (antiquated) rules of the house if you cannot call someone out for BLATANTLY LYING.

I don't think Dawn Butler made the argument terribly well there but it's awfully clear that our Prime Minister constantly runs out untruths and it's just so infuriating

To be fair to the rules:

1) This wouldn't have made nearly the same impact if she hadn't been kicked out for breaking the rules
2) If MPs were allowed to call each other liars, then that applies to the people telling the lies too. So it would just devolve into Tories shouting liar whenever someone states a fact they don't like.

The house really needs to beef up the punishments around being misled, and start taking action. Sturgeon came closer than she would have liked to losing her job for getting her dates wrong by a couple of days. Imagine if that standard was applied down south?

I do agree that queen Dawn didn't make her argument particularly well, even though her intention was clearly to play for MAXIMUM STUNTS.

She could do with a few public speaking lessons if she's serious about a run for leadership.
But thank fuck we have somebody willing to put their neck out a bit in the face of this hellscape of a government.

Farage invented the tactic in the European Parliament (miss u 5eva bb) - saying shit that was bound to get publicity to widen his audience. I hope Dawn makes this her THING.

I actually think she said it in the simplest terms which was exactly what was required, nothing more, nothing less.

I disagree. She flopped around what she (rightfully) was saying, half reading her bit of paper and half doing it from memory which meant there was no punch to it at all.

Priti's fine with rain, it's just sunlight that burns her to a crisp.
Are we sure?
