I don't know where to put it, maybe a "post covid era" thread would be good when it feels right to have one, but it's not a story I'd want the attention of being OP.
Basically had the most "post-Covid" feeling weekend so far. A 90th birthday party with us being sort of honourary family members. Everyone attending double vaxxed, anyone in any doubt having been tested also, me and my parents having done lateral flows just before setting off (I for one could not live with myself if I didn't take every precaution and something happened, that seemed to be the consensus). Lots of love for her, good social event, just really felt like a proper, normal-times, joyous occasion and it was so nice to see something like this happen again and for the chance for her to celebrate a milestone properly.
Hopefully the first of many better times ahead.
(As a political side-rant, seeing someone celebrating their 90th birthday really makes me all the more pissed off at the apparent Boris attitude at one point, expressed by some of the general public, of "it's okay, the people who are dying are mostly over 80 anyway". She's as sharp as she ever was, seems to be enjoying life, and will hopefully live to be 100, thank you very much.)
