I'm used to it in the pub now and see them as places of mutual risk acceptance anyway but still don't feel ready for the situation with supermarkets. I'm now a tiny minority wearing a mask, I'd say 1 in 10 at best, probably more like 1 in 20 or 30

And yeah already got a couple of boxes of lateral flows and will be grabbing more. They'll become expensive probably and I'll still want to know before seeing anyone vulnerable, after attending conventions etc.

Hasn't the "lateral flows will stop being free soon" been rumoured for months now? Or has something changed recently to make it more likely?

Oh yikes.

If they want to make some money on them what they should do is keep the horrible old-school tonsil ones free, but you can pay to upgrade to the better nose only ones.

I got sent these ones today, so still nose only. Must just be the luck of the draw!

I think it is luck of the draw. I always order in exactly the same way and I've had a batch of each type.

Things don’t seem to be creeping up. I don’t think it usually happens all at once?
But the schools in England went back 2 weeks ago today. It will be felt right through until the end of September.

36k new UK cases today which is a fair bit higher, so it looks like they ARE going up. We shall just have to wait and see.

Infections in the 0-9 age category are already going down slower than the remaining age groups. THE RIDDLED FUCKERS

To be honest I've long since stopped being interested in the number of cases. People are out living their lives, most (in England at least) without masks. Cases are going to be high. I'm only really interested in numbers in hospitals and deaths - and particularly who of those are double vaccinated.

It is the only way to see if cases are rising due to schools returning though, no?

I got a batch of Flowflex in this morning.

Bloody hard to do the nasal swab when you've got a cold - as soon as the swab touched the inside of my nostril I started sneezing like an absolute bastard :D

What is the limit for shut down? How many have to test positive?
The government say 5 children need to be positive in order for the class to be shut down. Two of our teachers also have it despite being vaccinated.

Masks no longer required at work when moving around, they're adopting the government's "Common Sense (TM)" and "Personal Choice (TM)" approaches.

Ours has been like that for at least a month now. Not a single person wears one.

TBH I feel this is one of those things that feeds into itself. Even I'm starting to think "well if no one wants to wear one to protect me, then why should I wear one to protect them?"

Wrong way of thinking of course, but it's there. Still wearing in the shops anyways...

I think I was the only person wearing a mask on the train this morning. A massive contrast to only about 3 weeks ago when it was about 70%

I keep seeing people who are in their 80s or who can barely walk because of some serious illness or are morbidly obese or look like death, and they’re not wearing masks. It’s bad enough when you have to sit next to a 20 year old sniffing and snorting through a train journey because they spent the last week at freshers nights and don’t really know/care about the difference between a cold and covid. But the acutely vulnerable? I don’t get it.

I've had one yesterday too, not that I was feeling unwell at all, just as a precaution because I would be seeing my parents.
This is gonna be the norm from now on, isn't it?

Didn't realise that my invite to book a booster went straight to my promo email folder which I usually just scan once a week or so and mass delete. So I'm all booked up for next Tuesday.

Slightly surprised that the NHS got to me before work did, but I guess that may be because I reached 50 since I had the second dose.

They’re vaccinating 12-15 yr olds at work now. I want my booster jab
