Obviously at this stage we've been pumped up to believe R SAM MIGHT WIN.

WHAT DO YOU THINK?

Anywhere between about fifteenth and potentially, maybe, winner. It’s the televote that is the big question mark.

But yes I want to go down the delusional path even if it means tears come Sunday morning :disco:

This.

But I’m still thinking it will be hilarious for us to come second to Ukraine with the only half decent song we’ve sent in a decade and STILL people will have a reason to blame political voting :basil:

I’m sure the French AND ITALIANS OBVIOUSLY firmly believe they’re going to win every single year (even when they’re blatantly not), so I’m going to take that approach and to hell with the gut-wrenching disappointment if it all goes tits up

I SURVIVED VERONA FOR GOD’S SAKE

I think top ten, which would be a great result, and if it doesn’t finish top ten I expect Sam should feel very hard done by.

Oh wow... only 4 people on this entire poll think we're finishing outside the top ten? We're through the looking glass now.

it's one of the most likely to win but less likely than a few others, 4th.

We've been consistently top ten in the odds since the song was released and the rehearsals have had a strong write up. At this stage, if we don't come top ten we may have to consider that it actually IS all political and that everyone DOES hate us.

I know I’ve been a bit of a voice of misery RE the UK this year, but I do think we have an excellent chance at the top ten, and I actually think we have a a strong chance to win the Jury vote. The vocal is really impressive.

I would ask you all to be 100% honest with yourselves though. Do you genuinely, truly love the SONG, or do you just love him + the novelty of hope?

Because everything I’ve seen and heard so far, including the nonexistant Chart/Spotify action suggests that it’s the latter. Which does make me think the televote could be a bit of an egg on face moment.

Did anyone here really love Amar Pelos Dois before it won with the biggest score in history?

I should point out that I will be absolutely delighted if this does well - Sam is one of the best singers ever to compete at Eurovision and it is so genuinely lovely to feel like we're part of it this year rather than watching from the sidelines.

I just worry that we're all thrilled that it's "not actively shit" for once and going a bit overboard with the expectations. I'm sure most of the people who have stuck money on this are British. Space Man is a perfectly good song, but it's not worlds apart from what we've sent in recent years with Sam's voice being the key differentiating factor and I'm not sure that alone is going to be worth an extra 500 points.

And we absolutely have been here before with Blue and Molly, and to a lesser extent Lucie. Don't say it's different this time, because it isn't. The hype was through the roof then as well.

Most of my expectations for Saturday are based on the juries, as I think we’ve a fairly safe shot of doing extremely well out of them. The public vote I think will be pleasingly solid, but I don’t for one minute think it’ll be a winning figure (Even 10th to 12th with the public I’d be happy with). As you say, it’s just nice to be in the mix properly and to be very much part of the conversation about the best songs of the year.

It’s different :opinion:

Anyway I don’t really give a shit about Sam, I’ve had no exposure over here.

I DO like the song, I was shocked
Also the AUDACITY OF HOPE

Back up to #13 on iTunes. I think that's the highest he's been for a few weeks.

All I know is, after all this @ButterTart will either be King Of Moopy, or assassinated.

I can't see any middle ground

I can't help it but I'm certainly finding myself getting swept away with the hype; I need to keep reminding myself that just getting into the top ten would be a great result.
