UK: The Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson years - problematic + infected + broke the law + electoral poison + sneks + not very good + OVER (funny)

I hope she arranges a staged very upset photoshoot

So many (no doubt handsomely paid) Mickey Mouse roles in Government. And I thought I worked in a bloated environment!

The thought of someone so utterly and obviously OUT OF HER DEPTH like Liz Truss running the economy of the UK is quite STAGGERING.

'where we are working every day to improve the life chances of vulnerable and disadvantaged children and young people up and down our country'

Get cunted. You've been systematically destroying all the support structures in place.

There was talk last week that Boris might try to trigger a GE himself as a nuclear option to cling to power. I wonder if that’s more likely now? Would he even have the support to do it?

It certainly doesn’t seem like he’s going to go willingly.

Is the public (and conservative voters) still mostly against Boris or do they see him as a victim to some kind of plot?

There’s quite a few people that don’t feel sorry for him but say there isn’t anyone better to take over :eyes:

Approaching spectacular unpopularity albeit there will always be a core support (got Brexit done etc.). Party slightly better off than Johnson himself. Voting intention polls are very poor but the underlying areas (trust, issue specific) are even worse.

I think he's TOAST with the general public. Save for the ridiculous attempts at willy-waving with Ukraine and NATO which play to a very small audience imo, it's been a succession of CATASTROPHES for the last year or so, coupled with the general rise in the cost of living, Brexit unraveling, none of his electoral promises coming to anything he can claim for himself etc.

He's cornered himself into pleasing the crowd that still pines for IMPERIAL MEASUREMENTS and WHO THE FUCK IS THAT these days.

So many! Size of the government payroll is astonishing. I guess it buys loyalty (for so long)

It's perhaps hard to see it now after so much shit has happened but remember this thread was originally called "The Boris Johnson days (or weeks)". I think anyone who was more than just a passing voter who could have fallen for his charisma could have told you there was no way he was going to be able to hold a Government together, his previous history told you everything you needed to know about the kind of PM he was going to be.

Would he even have the support to do it?
Does he need it? Isn't it back to being entirely within his gift again when the next GE is? Is there a process for Parliament to block him if he calls one now that the Fixed Term Parliaments act is gone?

Even if Parliament could block it, you have to think they wouldn't. All the opposition parties would vote for a General Election and Johnson will surely have enough squeaking loyalists left to take it over the line.

Lets hope so, I know big Kieth isn't inspiring, but I can't see the Tories getting anything out of a GE right now.

I take huge joy in people having voted to "get Brexit done" segueing into rampant (world-beating, with the exception of Turkey) inflation, self-sanctioning that even Russia wouldn't dream of, and Scotland being like "it's not me, it's you" :disco:

Ms Ron is my indicator of what the general public with no interest in politics think. She was original of the 'charming funny boris' ilk (although she didn't vote for him for fear of divorce) but now she thinks he's an out and out cunt.

Javid is going to give a resignation statement to the house after PMQs :o I can’t remember the last time someone did this.

Is he going to attempt to Howe the prime minister?

The only way, would be for The Queen to refuse his dissolution request. It’s a bit of a grey area (thanks to this government) if it was clear most MPs were against it and would be a constitutional crisis.

Who’s this

Fuck my life. Quince showed what I presume to be career prospect based backbone for the first time in his life.

Quite amused that he's now become known as the WHO? MP.

Oh he's my MP.

I'm sick of all these letters stating how proud they are of/listing their achievements like some kind of weird reverse CV.

Just stick the knife in and have done with it.

They are resigning thick and fast now!

My own MP Felicity Buchan throwing in the towel along with Victoria Atkins.
