What DO the bookies actually mean in situations like this? Isn’t it just fuelled by whatever people reckon and bet on, and reactions to those bets?

They'll announce a reduced shortlist in the coming weeks, probably down to around 5 cities still in contention. Then they'll whittle them down until a final announcement most likely around late September.

I think Birmingham did recently announce the arena they’d use and it’s cleared its schedule which is probably driving the odds.

But they wouldn’t give it to the same city twice running surely?

they’ve already tried hosting it in Birmingham and it was a disaster because the gorgeous and talented Gunvor from Switzerland collected zero points. A lot of you are too young to remember but at the end of the 1998 voting sequence a perplexed Ulrika Johnson turned square-on to the camera and delivered this powerful monologue:

Those of you with the power to vote tonight have failed the whole of Europe. I am going to personally hunt all of you down and teach you a lesson. Lass Ihn is one of the greatest songs of ALL TIME! For fucks sake, do you think this is something to joke about? I believe Suomi is evil.

I don’t want to give away too much of the host city proposal I sent but if I hosted it in Croydon I’d make all the finalists come out to this music during the flag parade

What news of Harrogate? They've probably still got the 1982 scoreboard and Jan Leeming stored away somewhere.
I went to the venue about five years ago and can confirm the scoreboard was still on the wall catching dust :disco:

Betty’s Tea Rooms reportedly AGOG

Is there any remote chance of Belfast hosting?!
I'd love that, but they really would have to put in an absolutely killer bid to compensate for being one of the smaller options and there doesn't really seem to be huge amount of appetite for it.
