Plus this idea that she's been having a 'downfall' is actually misogynistic. And this applies to any female artist really. Just because they're not 'number 1' anymore or whatever doesn't mean their career is in free fall. Hardly ever gets said about male artists.

And I just saw this and oh God it’s the same discussion all the time. Every artist reaches a point when they’re past their creative and commercial peak no one is expected to stay on top. Just that in Madonna’s case I found that it happened before it should and I blame her career choices and image problem for that.

And yes it never gets said about male artists and that’s because we never discuss male artists.

It's a bit of a racket to me and the chorus is definitely a letdown. These high profile duets often don't work particularly well and it definitely felt quite naff at the time.

Then again, my favourite Madge duet is "Cuidado Con Mi Corazón" so there you go :D

To be honest I probably recall the parodies of it more than the song itself.

I wouldn't call it an embarrassment though - more a bit of fun I just don't find that fun.

Wasn’t everyone just recently calling Justin Timberlake a fat Dad dancer the other week? And Robbie Williams too. It’s only males in the Rock genre that don’t get criticism for getting old.

Suedy in the Beyoncé thread “would it kill her to crack a smile every now and then”

Suedy in the Madonna thread “it’s misogynistic to say Madonna is on a downward trajectory”

She had her creamy smooth pop icon goddess armour back on, fully intact for COAD. Okay 2 of the plates had came off as scored through, but she came through arguably even more than Music in terms of commercial impact. Not that it lasted with the terrible subsequent videos, not least the Jo Whiley Jump serve.

To me 'Me Against The Music' was a 'PANIC' button press in the wake of American Life underperforming. Not the start of a downward spiral.

Hard Candy was far more troubling in that regard but I still don't consider it the start of a downward trend. I think it's really not helpful to use these terms.

I don't think it was the start of her "alleged" downward spiral but it was definitely the birthplace of unnecessary and unremarkable collaborations which didn't really add anything to her oeuvre.

Hardcore fans will remember we got a solo version for 5 minutes only before evolving into a DUETTÉ.

Awful miming Brit!

To be fair given it was a pretty big hit at the time, it certainly has been forgotten, and it’s stream total is very low, especially compared to other smaller hits (for Britney anyway). So it’s ripe for some attention.

I still love it, but would probably like it a bit more if it was solo sadly for our Madge :(
