Olivia Rodrigo - GUTS (spilled) re-release out now

I didn't know she's doing a song for the new Hunger Games movie, I hope this doesn't mean the GUTS promo stops. Not that movie soundtracks do much these days, unless it's Barbie.

I think it is really lovely but I wouldn't have picked it out as being her if I didn't know. The folksy/Americana thing is a bit different from her usual ballads.

She's never been worse than very good whenever I've heard her live, so that SNL flub is a shame

the album grates at moments (lacy, anyone) but has handful of 10/10 moments (love is embarrassing, making the bed, vampire, pretty isn't pretty).

I heard a horrible horrible song in a clothing store the other day. It was so horrible I was curious to know who was responsible for it but still couldn’t be bothered to take out my phone and check. Fast forward to tonight watching the 2023 VMAs on Paramount+ and suddenly this song pops up and it turns out it’s…

Vampire by Olive Rodriguez (sp?)

this album has grown on me a lot, but it's still not as strong as SOUR.

07 all-american bitch
07 bad idea right?
10 vampire
10 lacy
07 ballad of a homeschooled schoolgirl
08 making the bed
07 logical - zzz
06 get him back!
10 love is embarrassing
09 the grudge -
08 pretty isn't pretty
07 teenage dream

84 SOUR
80 (+10) GUTS

I go back to "Vampire", "Love is Embarrassing", "Making the Bed", and "Pretty Isn't Pretty". That's about it. Something about her voice/delivery grates on me a bit, when listening to the album all the way through. Especially the slower piano ballad stuff.

I agree it's a cherry picker. I love Pretty isn't Pretty, Vampire and all american bitch a lot. the rest... not bad, sometimes fun or lovely but she can do better and probably needs to keep her sound moving next time.

I must be listening to a different album cause apart from the singles, SOUR was pretty MID!

Has she re-recorded the vinyl bonus tracks? I read online that she had but it could have been speculation based on the recording style (I haven't heard any of them but I read they were a bit basic and demo-ey).

I like So American more than anything from the original album

what a stat! :disco:

I note with horror that Pretty Isn't Pretty, the BEST SONG on the album, is slumming it with just 91m streams. there is no JUSTICE!
