Not staying up long for this tonight, but looking bad for the Tories and even worse for Labour.

Labour have lost a lot of Sunderland, which may not be a surprise, but are losing councillors everywhere at the moment.

The Tories have lost almost 400 seats so far :D

Labour down about 81.

UKIP have lost a bunch too, so they can’t really say this is a pro-Brexit backlash.

OMG YAY! I'm really pleased for him

Ugh to the general carry on though. Bloody Labour. If their uselessness makes my council flip back to TORY again I shall WRITE A STERN LETTER to BARRY GARDINER

There's an FB link on my wall for those interested. He won by a huge majority. I did see many of his posters up to be fair.

York results aren't even due until 5pm. Bloody layabouts.

It will be interesting though because we are currently a three way split.

I hope his Sheena arse pics shame doesn't leak.

:D

I had almost entirely forgotten about that. When my s/o comes out each month, I still feel that Shee made the biggest sacrifice for Moopy of all of us...

I think UKIP are regarded as finished by everyone, including Brexiters. When Frankie Boyle described UKIP as "The BNP for people who can afford van insurance", he was on the verge of a truth and one which has now shifted again. UKIP has taken over from the BNP as the "thugs and morons" division. Understanding this, Farage set up a whole new party rather than come back and try to pull it together.

The Brexit Party's performance in the European elections will tell us much more.

I voted Green yesterday. I'm pretty sure it's the first time I've ever not voted Labour in an election. I wrestled with the whole 'a wasted vote is a vote for the Tories' thing, but I just couldn't bring myself to vote Labour. And it was absolutely about Corbyn and Brexit, not whoever our local councillor is.

I didn't vote yesterday. I only had a choice of the three main parties. I'd have voted according to local policies but didn't receive any leaflets.

Similar but to be fair there was no Labour councillor in my ward.

Lib Dem won which I'm happy about, I actually met her yesterday and she seems nice. We had a local 'liberal party' candidate and he looks like a creepy rapist (and they are pro brexit)

I voted Labour. I would have done anyway, but given my local Labour councillor came round and we had a nice chat about road safety, he got my vote.

I voted Labour but Lib Dems won my ward which is fine. Keeps the Lib Lab coalition running . Rumour has it our very own Seb is set to join :disco:

I voted Green and Labour but now i’m wishing i’d joined in the Lib Dem tidal wave.

I don't really have party loyalty at local elections. I'm far more likely to vote on the candidate.

Well, as long as they are Labour, Lib Dem, Green or Independent, obviously.

I voted Labour, largely because the Liberal Democrat sent three separate leaflets in envelopes thereby fooling me into thinking that I had actual mail. I wouldn't mind if the Lib Dem wins given that Manchester council is almost entirely Labour and different voices are a good thing.

Labour really did try in our area. Saw activists everywhere, and received about 5 pieces of mail, including a handy one yesterday telling me how the physical process of voting works in 5 easy steps. "put your X next to the candidates" YEAH THANKS

As long as the independent doesn't win. I appreciate his spirit but if you're going print off a letter at home and hand deliver it, at least have the wherewithal to get someone to spell check it first. Dreadful.

I didn't vote, either my postal vote application got thrown away or it just never turned up. That said I do think voting locally based on national issues is silly, whoever you choose.

All I know is I'd rather click on bestiality porn than the #RemainBacklash hashtag.

Even the most hardened #jc4pm voter can't ignore the swing to pro EU parties surely? Are Labour just going to ignore that?

I'm not! People just seem to act like I'm a Corbyn campaign surrogate sent out to recite the party line.

I'd be wary of reading anything particularly serious into local election results, I never interpreted them as a resounding endorsement of Corbyn even when Labour did well in them (as did a lot of the people celebrating this set of results). And I'll think the same when the Brexit Party wins the European elections.
