As we were talking about her hidden somewhere else today

Just dug out the GH...some lovely gems Id long forgotten on THERE if you please

Which GH do you have?

I've got "The World of Sheena Easton" which covers all the hits until "The Lover in me". I may invest in that reissue lolly mentioned as I've not heard anything from that album.

Sheena Top 10
1. Telefone (Long distance love affair)
2. Strut
3. Almost over you
4. Modern girl
5. When he shines
6. So far so good
7. Giving up giving in
8. Morning train
9. We've got tonight
10. Devil in a fast car

Yeah, ive got that too- its the best GH on the market as the record-company change meant there is no definitive...unfortunately

Ive just rediscovered the JOY of "When He Shines", you mentioning it there....

'When He Shines' is lovely. I much prefer her voice on slower songs. There's a hard edge to her voice that comes out sometimes on the more upbeat stuff that I'm not particularly fond of.

I must say though, after listening to a lot of her stuff today, that there is a fair bit of DROSS on her albums as well.

Well yes, she was filler supreme- its why I asked earlier if "A Private Heaven" is really all that...

Indeed, her singles have mostly aged quite badly too...though some of them weren't very good to begin with to be FAIR

Well I've not heard 'A Private Heaven' more than twice all the way through, Steve is by far a bigger fan. He can remember 'Big Time' :D

'A Private Heaven' was good listening to it today though. In places it hasn't aged well, but it's darned FUNKY for the most part.

The World Of Sheena Easton is great for "Devil In A Fast Car" which I didn't have on her earlier GH album. Of the regular albums, I find "The Lover In Me" & "What Comes Naturally" quite pleasing.

Top ten singles

1. Strut
2. 101
3. Telefone (Long distance love affair)
4. Days Like This
5. Devil In A Fast Car
6. Almost Over You
7. When He Shines
8. Sugar Walls
9. Swear
10. We've Got Tonight

Top five album tracks/non-hits

1. To Anyone
2. You Can Swing It
3. Ice Out In The Rain
4. Somebody
5. If You Wanna Keep Me

Ive got "What Comes Naturally" but never played it...perhaps I should dig it out...

I've got the title track from "What comes naturally" and it's not bad, but not good enough to investigate any further

Just back from town where I found this:
B000002OOR.01._AA240_SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg

1. Someone To Watch Over Me
2. I'm In The Mood For Love/Moody's Mood 'For Love'
3. The Nearness Of You
4. How Deep Is The Ocean
5. If You Go Away (Ne Me Quitte Pas)
6. Body And Soul
7. Little Girl Blue/When Sunny Gets Blue
8. The One I Love Belongs To Somebody Else
9. The Man That Got Away
10. I Will Say Goodbye
11. Never Will I Marry

Of course, €5, I wouldn't have bothered otherwise

Do you want any of the tracks?

I don't know if we have it or not. I know he doesn't have all the albums, but I think the ones he doesn't own he doesn' WANT to own :D

I have No Strings, only listened to it once though.

I like "Eternity". Very Prince-esque - well, he did write it. But "101" remains her finest moment (another Prince song).

Yes. Well I did put "Strut" above it, but 101 is certainly her best vocal.

"No Strings" I have heard once but I dont own

Secondspin had it RATHER CHEAP last time I looked

There's this new record company called Cherry Pop Records which is apparently devoted to re-issuing 'classic 80s pop albums'. Anyway, for reasons best known to themselves the first two they've released have been LaToya Jackson's debut and The Lover In Me. They won't last six months! :D

Anyway they've bunged on some bonus tracks...

1. No Deposit No Return
2. The Lover In Me
3. Follow My Rainbow
4. Without You
5. If It's Meant To Last
6. Days Like This
7. One Love
8. 101
9. Cool Love
10. Fire And Rain
11. The Lover In Me (Extended Version) (Bonus Track)
12. Days Like This (7" Version) (Bonus Track)
13. 101 (The Remix) (Bonus Track)
14. Deposit No Return (Radio Edit) (Bonus Track)

I don't think so, I read about it in this weeks music week.

Well I certainly knew it was being reissued ages ago- whether its just coming out now or not I don't know, because I have no interest in it as I have the original album anyway.

But I certainly knew about it...

I picked up that Lover In me reissue. Quite a decent album, if nothing spectacular. The ballads on the first side rather test the patience, but the second half is a treat.

101 really is head and shoulders above anything else though. What a fantastic song! The remix is good as well.

Think I might have to give Sheena a whirl....

I see Play are listing a new Best of...

Tried to force herself to the front as well, didnt she ? Or am I thinking of somewhere else...

BLESS HER HEART

Without her, lest we forget, I would NOT BE HERE

I'm afraid not, I don't have home internet access anymore, only through Uni.

It's on the recent re-issue of 'The Lover In Me'.

I have decided that "Strut" may well be the best thing she's ever recorded
