How is Dan Levy a SUPPORTING actor in Schitts Creek? If anything he's the main character!

James Corden was fucking appalling (and offensive) in The Prom wtf

Best original song - motion picture
  • Io Si (Seen) - The Life Ahead
Oh wow, that's a nomination for Laura Pausini, good for her. Also another one for Diane Warren, did she ever win any Golden Globe? Because she has to have like 10 nominations for the Oscar but still has to win one.

I’ve said for a while that the problem with streaming services being eligible for awards season now isn’t so much because they’re cheating the theatrical windows (which they kind of are) but that they have more money than they know what to do with, and will happily buy nominations, much more so and with more vigour than the studios ever did. Enter James Corden. What a farce.

some of the categories this year are just laughable and I hope the Oscars corrects this immediately next month. The awards circuit has always been run with a cynical eye but surely even Hollywood has its limits. It would be nice for it to still have some semblance of being based on quality. Maybe just a little bit!

The golden globes are always bought, it’s not something that has to do with streaming. They’re a group of like 100 people who like to be dined, wined and gifted.

Yes @ Ted Lasso and Ramy :disco: !!!

Palm Springs was cute but didn't warrant a nom.

I've watched 4 episodes of I May Destroy You so far, why wasn't this nominated?

Can we change this to Awards Season 2021? The SAG nominations are out

Well something like Small Axe is being considered as a tv series (for awards consideration) even though in reality it’s 5 movies.

Christina Applegate, “Dead to Me”
Linda Cardellini, “Dead to Me”
Kaley Cuoco, “The Flight Attendant”
Annie Murphy, “Schitt’s Creek”
Catherine O’Hara, “Schitt’s Creek

OMG, I haven't seen The Flight Attendant, but give it to them ALL.

I swear Schitts Creek ended about 3 years ago.

Although that's 6 months in lockdown time.

I really can't with Borat movies, but I am quite excited at the prospect of a BULGARIAN getting nominated for an Oscar.

I think this year’s best actor race is shaping up to be interesting. Riz Ahmed, Steven Yeun and Chadwick Boseman getting nominated will make it the most diverse the category has ever been.

I think I've never been as involved in an awards season as this year. Covid-19 has also meant that most contenders have hit the streaming circus early or are as always readily available as screeners. From the main contenders I've only not seen Judas and the Black Messiah and The Father.

These would be my ideal choices for an Oscar:

Picture: Nomadland or even The Sound of Metal (though the last one probably has no chances. My three favourite movies of the year are actually Possessor Uncut, Lover's Rock and Palm Springs though they have zero chances/cannot qualify)
Director: Chloe Zhao or Emerald Fennell (this should be the year of female directors)
Actress: Vanessa Kirby (that birth scene is straight out of a horror movie) or Carey Mulligan
Actor: Riz Ahmed by far
Supporting Actress: Maria Bakalova (this is weak category for me strangely in regard to the frontrunners)
Supporting Actor: Paul Raci, runner-up Leslie Odom, Jr or Bill Murray
Original Screenplay: Promising Young Woman
Adapted Screenplay: I'm Thinking of Ending Things
Cinematography: Nomadland
Production Design: Tenet
Song: Husavik
from Eurovision Song Contest
Sound: The Sound of Metal
, thankfully this is the rightful frontrunner
Visual Effects: As Possessor Uncut is not on the shortlist, it should be Tenet
Animated Feature: Wolfwalkers
Documentary Feature: Dick Johnson is Dead
International Film: Collective
Animated Short: If Anything Happens To You

That Vanessa Kirby film just looks so BLEAK. It's a toss up between that and Mank for this year's least appealing Oscar bait.

I need to watch that Vanessa Kirby movie. I rented Judas and the Black Messiah for tonight, everyone is raving about it and Daniel Kaluuya seems to be the favorite for supporting actor.

Yeah after watching the film I think it’ll be hard to beat Kaluuya, it’s such a good role and performance.
