Caroline Polachek - Bunny Is A Rider

GOOD GOOD.

We've been overdue something new from her, I feel. That photo has quite the 70's horror-porn VHS cover atmosphere.

It's hard to judge on first listen, but I think I like it. I think its a song that takes a couple of listens to bed in. Great production too.

I really like this part (I guess the chorus):
But I'm so non-physical
I do, I do, feel like the lady
I do, I do, fireworks blazing
I do, I do, heart is unbreaking
I do, I do, but don't drop my name

I like the 30 seconds I can listen to. It's up on Bandcamp but with no stream so you have to cough up. It's like looking at a CD single in Virgin all over again.

I hope this a grower, as it's not touching even the bottom half of PANG for me on first few listens.

I can easily see this doing a Solar Power in that everybody online loves it for 48 hours, then promptly forgets it even EXISTS!
Not sure if she's given herself enough time between projects to come up with something as cohesive and genre blending as PANG, but we shall SEE!

The more I sit with this, the more I'm convinced that bunny is, in fact, a rider.

I feel the entire opposite now :D Bunny is just a breezy bit of fun, and deffo one of her more accessible tracks. I love the Tomb Raider slays the Minotaur video too :disco:

I saw her live a few weeks back, and she was GREAT.
She did a few new songs that unfortunately didn't sound brilliant but maybe they were just the live versions.
One of them (presumably called 'Smoke') literally went:

"It's just smoke (smoke!) floating over the volcano,
It's just smoke (smoke!) floating over the volcano,
na na na na nananananana na na"

INTERESTED to see if it ever emerges as a studio version :D

Pitchfork called this the best song of 2021! I don't necessarily agree but its cool for her to get that

Yeah I guess the way I worded it made it sound like I'm trying to claim it as a fact, but it just didn't seem to have the hype or reception of some of her other music

I'm calling it fact! a good song but best of the year? biiiiiiiiish! s'il vous plait!

and yes, it really came and went in minimal impact fashion even among her stans.
