Charity Shop Sue

This is probably the most high-profile thing she’s done so far... I wonder if we’ll be seeing her in her own BBC Three series :disco:

Do ya know how old the Queen mum is?

... oh god she is int she

I think you'll all agree that I'm looking quite sultry and alluring this evening :horny:

OMG. Should have known Moopy would have a appreciation society for the first laydeh of Bulwell.

Meanwhile Sue is having to make sacrifices due to the current petrol shortage

I saw her out of character a short while ago and was AGOG

STRANGE there hasn't been some sort of SECOND SEASON or vehicle beyond random social media clips announced.

In the meantime, SHALL WE :disco:

Viki needs to be completely rewritten or quietly exit for any new material though x

Every time this comes back up I'm tempted to give it another go, but I haven't yet. I want to see what everyone else sees in it!

She really is a BBC DARLING at this stage

I note BBC Three is back in January... :eyes:

I do think it's a very particular kind of humour, that probably resonates best if you've grown up working class somewhere in the centre of England :D (obviously not exclusively though)

I've probably said it before :eyes: but Kath and Kim through a grotty English lens is the closest comparison I could make.

Yes! I think it’s exceptionally specific humour rooted in class, grandiosity and power / workplace power struggles. Sue’s shop is her little kingdom. Sue Tuke’s Book Of Management is an absolute scream - she has no idea that she’s already on a downward trajectory :disco:

I watched the YouTube series and there are some very funny moments and a lot of average ones too but in general I like it.

I think the problem (sometimes, maybe) is that the actress doesn’t do any of the writing, at least not for the show, which can lead to some of the live, guest appearances not always hitting the mark.

Oh I DON’T KNOW for the LIKES maybe?

Yeah, she can be fairly amusing in improv AT TIMES YES YES NOT ON DRAG RACE but it's definitely missing that sheen that clearly comes from the writing. That combined with the (exceptional) performance is just magic. :disco:

From what I saw of the series I'd assumed it was largely improvised, along the lines of Curb Your Enthusiasm (as in the actors get a general outline and destination for the scene then work it out themselves). Apparently not though!
