CHRISTMAS DINNER RATE 2020

07 Roast Turkey - I love turkey, but I go for what's inside (whatever organs are to be scraped off and stuffing), plus the bacon on the outside
00 Nut Roast - I don't know her
12 Stuffing - thank goodness I can't make it myself or it would be my frequent go-to cheat meal
10 Cranberry Sauce - in small doses
07 Pigs in Blankets - requires brown sauce or Branston Pickle
10 Broccoli - I eat this almost every day
10 Peas
10 Brussel Sprouts - I'll eat them raw until my mouth is sore and stinging, but prefer to chop and fry them
10 Swede - who can resist a Sweded roasting etc
09 Roast Parsnips - a bit lacklustre as far as veg goes, but vegetables just taste so good this way
06 Red Cabbage
06 Green Cabbage
06 White Cabbage
10 Roast Potatoes - they can just as easily be a zero though
04 Mashed Potatoes - one of the dullest foods to eat
04 Boiled Potatoes
09 Carrots
06 Yorkshire Pudding - I don't mind the texture, but they don't excite me
05 Bread Sauce - formerly a 12, now it's just like fake porridge
07 Gravy - the turkey's get out of jail free card

Also mashed potato is FABULOUS

But it never replaces roast potatoes

you just have BOTH

I think i ate 15 sprouts for my Christmas dinner last year. It was amazing. SO NICE

I'm making Christmas dinner this year. and while everything here is indeed boiled in the pressure cooker for 72 hours, @funky , rest assured my gravy is thicc

Plus extra gravy obvs

kate have you been to the Red Lion in Barnes. They do the BEST roasts served in a massive roasting dish to share, with a big SHARING JUG of thick gravy. None of this small jug of brown liquid nonsense. It’s such a thrill when you find somewhere that does Roasts properly

My mum could somehow make potato croquettes amazing. I have no idea how she did it.

An amazing gravy completely transforms an average plate of food.

A shit gravy can ruin even the best.

It absolutely is the most important thing on the plate.

I HAVE but not for a roast :o I won’t be going to Barnes again until they reopen the poor brave bridge, but I shall BEAR THAT IN MIND

Mr Kate is a freak who likes his food dry, so the best roasts are the ones with gravy in a jug because I get both of them.

Red cabbage IS christmas

I was hoping that after Mr L's mother died, we could move away from traditional British Christmas Dinner. I don't particularly like it, and neither does he. But no, apparently it's 'tradition'.

Mr Ag didn't even know there were pigs in blankets in the house yesterday and he never will.

I dont really miss eating pork, but I did just pine over a rather juicy looking pig in blanket. This will be my third dead pigless christmas.

This was our local when we lived in Barnes, it's my favourite pub ever  (Not that I was old enough to drink at the TIME, but we were still there a lot)
