Maybe a slightly simpler approach would be to combine the two elements together and have a rate where you can reward your (say) ten favourite songs more - e.g. rate every song between 0 and 10, but you can give one song 25, one 20, one 18 etc.. Effectively extending the "you can give out one 11 and one -1" rules we sometimes use for rates anyway.

I'm not sure working out the right intervals to have there is simpler than 'anything above this average gets their average multiplied by 10/20 points - then do results from there'.

OMG actually in disbelief you queens are debating Telemóveis AGAIN! I doubt even Conan himself has banged on about HIS OWN SONG as much as you lot seem to.
Oh I don't know - he did seem to take it VERY personally when he went out to Say (Na Na Na) :basil:

Oh in fairness I’ve never missed one of those and I don’t intend to start now.
Ooh I know you FILTHY ARTICLE.:horny:

But can you slow down with the throwing of the coins darling? 5ps we can deal with but poor Derinda got £2 wedged in a VERY UNFORTUNATE crevice last time leading to an unplanned ENCORE the like of which has never been seen before, resulting in several arrests.

I've realised I haven't stretched this out enough. It's still FIVE WEEKS, which basically means THREE WEEKS of voting.

Happy to have just voted and by doing so, brought Conan's percentage down a tad. But still horrified that he's got the joint second highest one as things stand.
This is your average ART hater people. Just here to bring others down rather than just enjoying whatever you enjoy and celebrating difference. SAD.

Amongst all of @Penelope’s screaming and shouting, @Madison has already clearly stated his preferred method and I agree with him.

Anyway, the ultimate aim is to have a great Top 100 playlist that accurately reflects our taste... It’s not like we’re doing a fun/exciting vote reveal and I’m not sure how complicating the voting is going to help make it more accurate.

So let’s just do a rate of all the songs, it’s worked for us in the past and everyone knows clearly what they need to do.

Still in two minds about the final vote.

Either

1. Rate them all!

Or

2. Pick a top 50 giving top points Eurovision style to your 10 faves of those.
How about a mixed member proportional system, where each decade gets one outright winner, and then other songs for the decade compete in the list vote?

Don't think about this too much, it very quickly descends into nonsense.

Maybe a rate, with the very best songs getting Eurovision scores on top. If, for example, we were allowed to give 20 songs 10 in the rate, the best ten of those twenty could get 12, 10, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1 points on top in addition to their 10 from the rate.

Does that make sense? I've had a few.

Depends if you think it would be fair for a song that everyone rates a 9 to potentially be languishing near the bottom.

a) I don't think a song which gets 9s from absolutely everyone but is in no one's top 10 will be languishing near the bottom.

b) If it is, I think I'm ok with that.

On reflection, and given how the results are going to be done, I think @Pingu and @Madison are correct and we should just do it as a straight forward rate. We've had plenty of Eurovision style scored contests anyway.

Yes I think something like this is the answer. I'm against any restriction on the number of tens though; there are certainly more than 20x 10/10 moments here!

Maybe that's the reason we NEED a restriction, though. If we're allowed to give however many we want, we might end up with very similar scores for the top songs.

OK so IF people thought it was a good idea to give individual faves a bit of a boost then I guess it could be kept as a rate but give people unlimited tens, five 12s, three 14s and a 15 to give out or something like that.

Tips the scales a bit without giving a small number of songs a ridiculous advantage over the rest.

Overall though, does adding complications to the scoring make it easier for people to vote? Does it make the reveal more exciting? Does it help keep the result accurate to our tastes? Surely those are the key tests and I sense the answer to all the above is no.

It has the exact same problem as I explained on the page before!

Just keep it to a rate guys, it's not that hard.

I am completely in love with the fact we're at the point of Eurovision loonery that we are deploying KEY TESTS :disco:

It is a pretty good list if someone could just come in and vote for those first ten and not Jedward.

Norway 1996 and 2012 are the two that for my money really should qualify.
France 2002 as well.

If anyone would like to switch to vote for Norway 1996 or France 2002, I have spare votes and would be willing to use them to vote for a song of your choice.
