Obviously this has been around for over a year, but just reached the top 10 for the first time. Surprised there was no topics for this. I love it, especially the Oliver Heddens remix. I notice this was a US hit to boot, not bad for a fairly low key British "indie" band.

I LOVE this song. I’ve never really gotten all the hype around them before but this is so great. There’s something very melancholy about it

I saw them at Latitude a few years. The lead singer is very charismatic and I like quite a bit from their back cat.

I assumed this had been a top ten here by now. The new one sounds pretty hit worthy, will be interesting to see if it breaks through.

I bought the last album, i think because I really liked Life Itself.

it already has 840m streams and it's only just reaching top 10. this will be inescapable for another year :D

And it just hit top 20 on radio and has a lot of room to grow

They became the first British group to top the global Spotify chart last week.

Also:

"...towards the end of his session he turned round to discover Johnny Depp was watching him. The actor, unfortunately, did not spot Heat Waves’ potential. “He literally didn’t react in any way to the song,” recalls Bayley. “He almost spoke to me afterwards as if there had been a fart in the room – something weird and slightly negligible. There was no compliment.”

:D

This has now risen to number 2 on the Hot 100! It’s also being predicted to be number 1 next week. I really hope it happens but it also is ridiculously slow, even for the Hot 100

I wonder when the last time a British band had a number 1 here

Actually it was Coldplay last year so not that long. But this is way more of a real hit than that

I still maintain the remix I posted is THE version. But that's just me.

I prefer the original, but like the remix too. I can’t watch the video because it reminds me too much of the beginning of lockdown

Actually since Justin Bieber is Canadian and the kid Laroi is Australian, only 3 songs are American. I wonder if that’s a record low

I kind of like You’re Beautiful. As an 11 year old, I found the explicit version saying he was “fucking high” to be scandalous

UK chart run

Three weeks at no.1 in the US. The ultimate slow burner (actual fact). It's almost two years old. No.1 on world spotify and still no.3 on UK streaming.

Five weeks now. Biggest UK hit since...?
This is maybe not reflected in numbers, but I think Watermelon Sugar was just as big and Levitating was bigger
