This rather awkward interview has gone a bit viral. Basically Ellen jokes-not-jokes about Dakota, who is 30 years younger than her, not inviting her to a recent party. Dakota then shows her the RECEIPTS and the whole thing gets very passive aggressive.

Ellen has become such a fascinatingly vile person in recent years.

It seems it was on the same weekend that DeGeneres attended a Dallas Cowboys game and was photographed sitting with George W. Bush. :D

For sure Ellen by now makes a great case study for "fame has gone to their head".

Ellen looked so fucking indignant.

She really didn't need to spend that much time on the matter during an interview.

Ellen’s always been a bit of a dick

Which she addressed entirely in quite an adult manner.

It is OK to be friends with someone who doesn't share the same views as you.

Yeah, what if said friend’s views could be transferred into potentially harmful policies?

Not that I would ever want to pit two strong independent females against each other

In that case nobody should be friends with any American President...

Anyway, I didn’t find this to be that bad, Dakota just seems a bit shy/stiff.

I'm glad someone finally cut through Ellen's facade and complete disinterest. I wonder why she keeps doing the show, there's no energy anymore, and she's made enough dollars to last her an eternity. and I used to really like her!

whenever Wanda Sykes is on remains hilarious though

her recent sitting with Oprah was pretty bad too. the absolute low point being them talking about how lavish vacations on big boats full of celebrities are and Oprah turning to the audience, who more than likely has spent the better part of their kids' college savings or saved on the chemo to fly to LA and be on the show, and encouraging them to get a boat because ISN'T IT JUST THE BEST, ELLEN!

Eww.

Can't stand Ellen these days. "Champagne Socialist" is the term that always comes to mind.

And yet it’s the kind of stupid shit that millions of stupid people seem to love watching.

I think calling her a socialist is a BIT OF A REACH. I'm sure she loves champagne though.

It's more a figure of speech. Basically this:

Champagne Socialist

Namely, any person, be it a celebrity, musician, writer or politician (commonly), who nominally espouse the virtues of Socialism and champion the hardships of living a down-to-earth existence among the disenfranchised and down-trodden of society, yet, actually holiday half of the year on plush islands, accept honours from the Queen and rub shoulders with the affluent over horderves.

These people are generally bleeding-heart Liberals on the outside, relishing the reflective glory of the appearance of being sympathetic to the plight of the working man, yet, when they are confronted with genuine poverty and urban degradation, choose to live far away in the country where the smell can't get to them.

I think most of us are aware of the phrase. I think the British coined it.

Yeah I'm pretty sure it's a British phrase. I always think of John Prescott.

I remember when she tweeted the list of 5* hotels she would be boycotting due to being owned by Brunei royals due to their anti LGBT laws. All well and good but she was encouraging the public to do so in turn. I think most of us have been “boycotting” them our whole lives.

‘Ellen’ Crew Furious Over Poor Communication Regarding Pay, Non-Union Workers During Coronavirus Shutdown

Crew members from Ellen DeGeneres’ long-running daytime talk show are distressed and outraged over their treatment from top producers amid the coronavirus pandemic, numerous insiders affiliated with the series told Variety.

The core stage crew for “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” consisting of more than 30 employees, received no written communication about the status of their working hours, pay, or inquiries about their mental and physical health from producers for over a month, said two sources, both of whom spoke on the condition of anonymity. Higher-ups in production would occasionally answer phone calls but reveal little, added one of the sources. The crew was further incensed by the show’s recent hire of an outside, non-union tech company to help DeGeneres tape remotely from her home in California.

There certainly seems to be a rising force against her at the moment, doesn't there?

I don't know if I believe that she's a raging bitch or if she's just an easy target because she's such a cold fish. But I'm happy to grab the popcorn and watch this play out :disco:

The tweet posted by @COB above makes me feel a bit sad for her though - that guy is just giving people a public platform to bitch to their heart's content and spread any old shit they like. I'm not sure firing some assistants for looking at her wrong, if that happened, makes her Colonel Gaddafi. It's probably commonplace in Hollywood.

There does seem to be a sinister controlling element to her and Portia’s relationship also that crops up again and again in that thread. The shoddy editing in Arrested Development season 4 was quite strange where she only filmed the bare minimum of scenes, mostly at home on a blue screen, then more or less disappeared.

Trying to get that waitress sacked for having chipped nail polish really is something else.

I don’t care about hearing about some diva behaviour. We all love the likes of Mariah, Naomi Campbell and Joan Collins who can even play up to it. The issue is that when your whole schtick is being fun, friendly and relatable, you can’t really get away with not holding up to that image.
