James Bond franchise sold to Amazon

The franchise has been at a stalemate since Amazon got their hands on MGM, so it's movement at least. Hardly a good one though.

I hope the blood diamonds (or whatever they’ve paid Babs off with) were worth it!

The franchise is not enough (but it's such a perfect place to start, my love).

Poor Babs will have to focus on Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. I wonder who the next Caractacus Pott will be.

I bet they do something incredibly shit like try to make a comedy one, or have an A.I. Sean "Give 'Em A Slap" Connery in it.

I expect they'll throw a shit ton of money at a v good director, who'll find the right actor/team and do right by it.

Though there's a good chance they'll throw a shit ton of money at Guy Ritchie, who'll go down the Jason Statham route.

Ultimately I'm not too fussed. I've seen every one at the cinema since the one starring Madonna, but it's not a franchise I feel especially fond about.

At the risk of upsetting the WOKE LEFT GUARDIAN BRIGADE it was objectively better when it was a bit chauvinistic. Not that it could or should get all rapey again but lets not kid ourselves

I think it's all a bit of an overreaction. Bond films have always been up and down in quality and will continue to be. at least now they'll make one!

I think Babs Broccoli was so in love with Daniel that she didn't know how to recast and start again. so let some younger blood take over. maybe it will be bad, maybe it will be good. Amazon are a film studio like any other (but with unlimited budgets) and they can afford a great director.

That’s all I ask for. I want PUSSY HOUND BOND back.

Was Pussy Hound-Bond the one that Terri Hatcher played?

9 year old me thought I fancied Teri Hatcher back when Tomorrow Never Dies came out. Turns out I was just gay and wanted to BE HER.

not loved as a Bond girl as far as I'm aware but Teri was fabulous. she gave it camp. terrible film though.

I love that there are such distinct mini-eras of Bond. Tomorrow Never Dies was in that late 90s moment with the weirdly corporate aesthetic with Bond driving a grey BMW 7 series and the supervillains being RUPERT MURDOCH but handsome (big set piece at... a newspaper printing factory) and a rogue engineer obsessed with plutonium. I mean, who wrote this shit? :disco:

The invisible car with some ridiculous hand-waving explanation for how it worked in "Die Another Day" was a real shark jumping moment of that era for me.

Surely James Bond isn't making a BILLION dollars of future profit to justify this

Did Neighbours and Susan Kennedy die (again) for this?

I assume there is an ulterior motive beyond the obvious driving up Prime subscriptions. Is this part of the new world order narrative - and we'll see James Bond recast as a savvy American tech genius saving the world from the EVIL WOKE?
