Moopy Book Club 2020: book suggestions thread

This year I’d like to read many classics as I haven’t read many at all. Maybe I can suggest one, but I haven’t bought any yet.

My bookshelves, kindle & audible accounts are all LOADED UP for 2020 - and yes I want to hit 50 books at least :disco:

I bought these today and I intend to read them all (inshallah) in January, so pick one as my Jan suggestion to the club.

two books I've long wanted to read

I’d do Hadrian, the other one I don’t know, is it fantasy? It’s bad enough that I’m watching His Dark Material.

that's a beautiful edition of Giovanni's Room

I love all those Classics edition, I just wish they had more of them in stores. I don’t like to buy from the internet.

Here are my suggestions for 2020:

Salman Rushdie - Midnight's Children or The Satanic Verses
Toni Morrison - Beloved or Sula or Paradise
Orhan Pamuk - A Strangeness in my Mind
Iris Murdoch - The Sea, The Sea

I’m getting deja vu so I may have already said this, but I have had The Sea, The Sea on my shelf since I was 13 so I am down for that.

Okay, so I think we can sort out the first 3 months:

January: My Year of Rest and Relaxation (Otessa Moshfeg)
February: The Blue Fox (Sjon)
March: The Sea, The Sea (Iris Murdoch)

We can revisit this thread with more suggestions periodically.

Any objections do let me know and I'm sure we can move things around if needed.
