MOOPY SYNC LISTENS #9 - ROBYN - BODY TALK - 8pm Tuesday 02/06

U Should Know Better is certainly interesting. I like the attitude of it and I think it makes good use of Snoop Dogg without letting him take over (and ruin) the track.

I think it's quite meh.
It's probably the company that it's in. I don't think I would be liking it as much if it had been directly after Dancing On My Own or Call Your Girlfriend.

This must be the longest album we've done. A FULL HOUR! WHO KNEW?

On the Body Talk part 3 EP, it was directly after Call Your Girlfriend and before Stars 4-Ever.

Was Ray Of Light not longer? I'm sure there was discussion at the time about whether she really needed to fill the whole CD.

I get the whole compilation of the best bits from three EPs thing, but it feels like there is a really incredible 10 or 11 track album that we missed out on. She'd have probably insisted on putting Dancehall Queen on any version.

For some reason this album has Bum Like You stuck in my head now even though it wasn’t played.

I'm going to listen to the tracks not included in the compilation Body Talk now

Criminal Intent from Body Talk 2 has popped up.

Is there anything missed we need to look at?

And should be applauded for it.

Is the Body Talk project generally preferred to the Robyn album?

I'm not sure. An edited version would be for me, I think. But that doesn't really seem fair.

Then again, the whole Robyn album was released so many times with different track listings, so which version would you pick?

I'm listening to Cry When You Get Older. I'd have it on my best version of the album.

That and Include Me Out would be my picks. I think only 5 tracks didn't make the final compilation, and two of those are the acoustics of Hang With Me and Indestructible (beautiful strings). That only leaves the Swedish language track, which is lovely but very much feels like an oddity.

What the fuck is this Swedish track?

I don't think I've ever heard her sing in her native language!

I like it.

The 5 track part three which was simultaneously released with the compilation only included tracks which made the final cut:

Indestructible
Time Machine
Call Your Girlfriend
Get Myself Together
Stars 4-Ever

I assume she only released it to assuage fans who may have been disappointed by the abandonment of the original idea.

There's so much good stuff in this project as a whole.

I was SURE there were three mini albums.
