Meg never married after the 'love of her life' and heir to the Littlewoods football pools empire, Nigel Moores, was killed in a car crash in the south of France in 1977.

As a child she was taught astrology by her Russian gypsy grandmother and started writing horoscopes after penning erotic stories for pornography magazines.

Colleagues say she didn't drink alcohol, only ate vegetables and went to the gym four times a week 'to keep her clairvoyant powers strong.'

Meg shot to stardom when she began offering horoscope readings over the phone in 1989 - a service which broke all BT records. - @ButterTart to confirm this last point.

On the subject of the lottery I remember reading a story at the time that Anthea Turner was on a GOLDEN HANDCUFFS deal with the BBC of £10,000,000. She was such a fantastic, charismatic, wonderful presenter. :eyes:

I also remember hearing an urban legend that her numbers came up on one of the rehearsal shows.

The lottery show was so weird. They always had great musical guests on because the ratings were good (remember when Madonna was on???) but that was the only reason to tune in. They’d somehow manage to drag releasing the balls across about 15 minutes, as though we enjoyed following the camera as the number 34 came down the ramp and the audience gasped. And the way they’d wheel out last week’s winners like they were some sort of celebrities. “With these winnings I’m going to fix my garden fence and take a trip to Wrexham to see my sister”

Who fucking cares!
 
Is there any sort of lottery show now? Genuinely no idea.
 
The internet killed any necessity for it. You get notified if you’re a millionaire now.
 
I would never have thought she was 80.

My mum was greatly affronted when someone once told her (incorrectly) that she looked like Meg. I'm not sure why, such a haunting beauty in her prime.
 
She was who you'd get if Enya ever became a con woman, and I loved her for it.
 
Look she was simply being considerate. How could one in good conscience unleash otherworldly vox without embarrassing the hapless Louise?

(I ADORE the baffled audience struggling to decide if they should be dancing or clapping or following other TOTP norms, so just awkwardly lightly sway on the spot)
