TV Ratings 2020

Birds of a Feather was fucking dreadful

Chart updated with the Queen's Speech BBC1 figure which wasn't included in the original chart.

I was pleasantly surprised when it returned to ITV, and enjoyed the newer seasons but that Christmas episode without Pauline Quirke was just UNCCECESSARY.

Clearly trying to do a Gavin And Stacey, as much as because of the ITV reboot it didn't have the same absence to make people so eager. I don't think it would have worked to any great degree anyway, but it would have had a far better chance with Pauline Quirke in it.

I imagine had it been a bigger hit they may have considered a series without her, but I suspect any thought of that is unlikely now.

It DID feel like they were half-pitching the episode as a soft-reboot, but didn't want to commit either way.

When even Pauline Quirke can't be arsed, you really do have to wonder :eyes:

I think the show could have possibly worked without Linda Robson. Of course I didn't actually watch it, so it may just have been shit beyond redemption anyway.

Those figures are GREAT for Eastenders.

Those streaming figures added on to the Eastenders figure on the Christmas week chart would bring Eastenders in to the Top 10. :disco:

No, the figures would already be included. That's just breaking it down. As a live broadcast, the Christmas Day episode only got 2.805m.

I worry that Ian Beale may have no job to go back to at this rate.

Oh I was all excited for Eastenders for a split second until Lolly snatched it away

:(

I don't really understand why they show EastEnders so LATE on Christmas Day now.

The Max/Stacey reveal in 2007 was shown at 6.20pm and 8pm. Maybe it's just the case that the BBC don't think it's worthy of the 8pm slot now, but 9pm feels too late, unless they're going to use the slot to do something notably GRITTY.

The figures for it now really are dire.

I've just realised that chart above seems a bit unfair to shows like Doctor Who and The Serpent as well. They were only available on New Year's Day, so if it covers streams from Dec 21 - January 3, then it's going to favour EastEnders (and the other older shows early in that period) as it has had 7 more days to get streams than both Doctor Who and The Serpent. It must be likely that both will overtake it when they have had a similar period available.

I'm surprised Two Doors Down didn't get into that iPlayer chart. There seems to be much more buzz about it than say Motherland.

How did Line of Duty do ratings wise? I am expecting HUGE numbers since it has been advertised heavily on everything for WEEKS.
