Was Happy New Year Live! the English version of bringing the bells in on BBC Scotland or was it that programme with Paddy McGuinness on beforehand?

I think that was the show covering midnight - presumably the Paddy McGuinness show failed to chart.

Just noticed the Great British Sewing Bee show from NYE didn't chart as well. That's a surprise, given how well the one the previous week did.

We had Susan Calman, Deacon Blue, and Amy Macdonald to welcome in the bells on BBC this year.

Any bets on when EastEnders will drop out the chart? Surely it's only a matter of time...

You would have thought figures would be up across the board considering everyone was staying in their own house alone this year. :eyes:

The soaps are all down year on year (as was the NYE spectacular :eyes:), but EastEnders again suffered most of the big three. I'll do a comparison post later, if I can be arsed.

The Serpent is another drama that had all episodes put up on iPlayer straight away so it will presumably be well down next week.

I've watched it all and enjoyed it, even if I thought that they could have cut some of the fat and reduced the episode count from eight.

When do we get the new season of Call The Midwife? Is it not usually on about now? I have not heard a PEEP.

Series 10 of Call the Midwife is expected to air later this year after production faced COVID-related delays last year.

* For the first time since doing this chart, an episode of EastEnders has dropped out of the Top 50 shows, so I don't know the figure for the lowest rated episode. Therefore I can't calculate an exact average. I've given the lowest episode the same figure as the lowest rated show in the top fifty and used this when calculating the average. So the figure above will be higher than the actual figure - but as it's an average I suspect it won't be so far from the correct one.

@lolly does Casualty not make the chart at all these days or was it on a sabbatical?
It narrowly missed it with 4.483m this week.

It was off for a while (I assume covid related), but didn't it return not so long before Christmas? @Star will know.

It returned 3 weeks ago, that was the first episode post covid.

You wonder how long the BBC will carry on with it. I have always dipped in to Casualty now and again but haven’t watched for a while.

You should watch the first episode of this season from 3 weeks ago. It breaks your heart to know what it's like inside hospitals dealing with covid.

If Casualty is in question, surely so is EastEnders. It's not getting much of a higher figure now. And Casualty is pretty stable, whereas EastEnders is still falling.

It is REALLY good.

I caught up with Des this week as well as The Pembrokeshire Murders and must say I didn’t see what all the fuss surrounding Des was. The Pembrokeshire Murders is so much better.

I thought it was okay, but nothing special. It's going to end up with fantastic figures after 28 days. Possibly the highest since Gavin and Stacey last year, excluding covid related news.

I did wonder if some viewers would jump ship as I thought the first episode of The Pembrokeshire Murders was really quite dull but the following two definitely picked up. Very impressive numbers though.

Not sure where that 11m viewers for Pembrokeshire Murders came from, unless the difference is explained by the couple of days after the 7 day period but before that tweet.

Despite the fall in viewers from last week, all four episodes of EastEnders were at least back in the top 50 programmes.

I know this isn't a general TV news thread, but I'll leave this here considering we don't seem to have started threads for it for the last few years
