This seems to be gaining all of the momentum and is now favourite to win Melodifestivalen with only one heat to go. Would you be happy with this as the winner?

For me it’s the song I keep coming back to most. There’s a fragility in the verses that is very affecting, combined with a visual presentation that is entertaining without being distracting.

The stage show is probably the strongest we’ve had so far this year. I wouldn’t say it’s my favourite of Sweden’s options, but I’d be 100% behind it if it’s what they chose.

I’d be very nervous of the vocal minus the pre-recorded backing track.

My winner preference of the six DTFs so far...

1. Mariette
2. Anna
3. Dotter
4. The Mamas
5. Mohombi
6. Robin

Love it. If Sweden picks this or Anna it will be my favourite Swedish entry since 2015 and I’ve loved them all.

They can use 5 backing singers. Won’t that be enough? I’m more nervous about how Anna’s performance will turn out in Rotterdam.

Woah! No judgement here but please explain why? I love the verses but the chorus feels like so limp.

I disagree. It feels like a complete song in a way that Kingdom Come doesn't (comparing those two as I guess they're in that kind of female power pop ballpark). And Mariette lifts it further. The guitar bit is fucking daft but that's easily fixed.

I’d be very nervous of the vocal minus the pre-recorded backing track.

She already has two live backing vocalists in her Melfest performance with room for a further three. I'm not concerned about that.

I'm more concerned about it being style over substance and attracting "who the hell is this wannabe Sia" remarks.

I think Shout It Out is really good! I’ve had it stuck in my head all week. I feel like it’s a reliable qualifier and Mariette deserves her shot.

Worry no more! Her vocal really isn’t that bad at all - there are a few shaky moments that could easily be masked by the increase in backing singers at Eurovision.

I actually don't care who wins Melodifestifalen this year. As long as it's a woman, obviously.

Dotter isn't out of tune but she does have a fragile voice which sounds like it could veer that way at any moment.

It hasn't been a great year but I would say at this point that the six confirmed finalists are a "solid" bunch if not particularly exciting.

The actual challengers were quite stacked towards Heat 4 last year so I'm hoping we'll get a little bit of something this week.

Hi.

I've not actually listened to Bulletproof since that second heat, but out of all the songs so far, including the ones that have been released on streaming, it's the one that's popping into my head the most. And that must count for something.

I think it's something that Sweden would (and should) be proud to send. The staging speaks for itself, she's an artist with an air of an 'edge' to her (in comparison to what else is on offer at least) and the song is strong (though I do think all six finalists so far are equally as strong as each other - Sweden has been getting it right with the voting this year).

We'll see what happens this Saturday, but out of the six finalists chosen so far, I believe she's the most likely to be picked by the Swedes.

What the juries will make of it, however, is anyone's guess.

There are certain things she does with her voice that I'm not keen on but Dotter's isolated vocal does sound much better than I imagined. It probably is a better song for Eurovision now than Kingdom Come too. I'm not sure the blinding lights are that nice to look at but the performance is fairly ready to go.

Anna would presumably need at least two backing singers and being down to three guys in kilts and no shirts appearing RIGHT OUTTA NOWHERE wouldn't have quite the same effect.

Welcome Will!

It would be a fairly run-of-the-mill winner even by Sweden’s recent standards. Another case of style over substance. The song is so derivative.

And I doubt if she can carry that song as a solo vocalist. There are times when she manages to completely disappear into it and get swamped by the backing vocals. At other points she sounds like she could lose control at any moment. I think it's more noticeable as she's the only one on stage and the sole focus of the performance.

Out of the songs that have gone DTF so far, this is BY FAR my favourite. I'm kinda hoping that Hanna Ferm's song is underwhelming now because I'd love to see Dotter managing it, what a turnaround from coming 6th in a heat two years ago

The performance is an impressive effect, but I thought Sweden was beyond just getting a female act to wiggle their chest for three minutes?

Anyway I think this would do *very* well for Sweden if it got the nod. It's not as if people go into Eurovision expecting ORGINAL ART music-wise and the performance more than does the business in terms of putting on a show.

This just clicked with me tonight, and as much as I’d love Anna to get her shot, I think this would be the better bet.

I think it has to be this one. We’ll only have Anna blubbing at the semi and no-one wants that :side-eye:

It’s somewhat on the Azeri side of Swedish, if that makes sense. (This is obviously a good thing)

As much as she’s my fave for the SECOND YEAR RUNNING, i’d be SHOCKED if Anna won MF again :D

Maybe if it was Wikipedia singing it but I can’t see Swedish televoters and international juries going mad for Anna sadly.

I will accept Dotter as substitute. Hannah Ferm can GET FUCKED!

The fan fiction comments under Anna’s youtube video suggesting that 10 years after she failed to qualify, Anna RISES LIKE A PHOENIX to win the whole competition and become a true Eurovision legend feel somewhat far-fetched :D

TBH I’m not entirely convinced that Dotter is a qualifier. It’s fine and all that but it isn’t entirely OH WOW and I can’t see televoters scurrying to their trimphones to vote for it, although the juries will probably save it

Oh if it is really between Hanna and Dotter, which spotify suggests, then it really has to be Dotter

Dotter is an EXCEPTIONALLY OBVIOUS qualifier! :D

Who WOULDN'T remember the one WITH THE DISCO LIGHTS DRESS at the end?!

There’s no way this would break Sweden’s top 10 streak.

I also don’t think it would be a total jury save either - I can see it getting more televote points than Too Late For Love.

I can also see it winning Eurovision if the stars align.

I'd still prefer Anna to win Melfest though, just for the narrative. But it really seems Dotter has the momentum now, unless Hannah's Spotify success bears out.

But it really seems Dotter has the momentum now, unless Hannah's Spotify success bears out.

The Spotify thing is an unusual one. Hanna has been charting higher than Dotter on the Top 50, but Dotter is consistently receiving more streams than Hanna every day, and has a higher stream count. Which means that Dotter is getting more streams from outside of Sweden than anyone else.

I'm not really sure if it can be deduced that this actually means anything. But it does imply somewhat that Bulletproof has a broader international appeal. And given that the international juries so often 'decide' the winner these days - I think the Spotify stats are actually in Dotter's favour.
