I'm happy this song is #1 but it is a real difficulty to celebrate Nicki Minaj and her shitty verses reaching the top on a Dr Luke beat to be honest - I'd rather Savage had taken it
 
Tiktok has now got me knowing songs BEFORE they chart high - all three of the UK top 3 have been massive TikTok songs for months now. Before that I never knew anything in the charts!

In other news there's some story developing about how she spends time (lots of it seemingly) hanging with racists/men's rights weirdos/internet scum in chat boards on the grimiest corners of the web.

OK Doja did a great job. Say So remix this is not. Wish she was harmonising on the chorus though, and that they didn't shorten the outro. In Your Eyes is such a banger.
 
From what I could make out from a cursory glance, lots of unsavoury chatroom behaviour (!) which is surfacing. And that's before you factor in good old Dr Luke!
 
Yeah, just reading about it... so apparently she is a regular frequenter of incel/alt-right video chatrooms where she allegedly allows them to use racial slurs on her and performs 'lewd' acts for them. She was pictured in one this month. Also supposedly is dismissive of and insulting towards black people and culture. Recorded a demo called Dindu Nuffin which is a racist term used by the alt-right.

The more I read about this, the sadder the whole thing is. She’s obviously an incredibly damaged person with quite bad mental health problems.

The right thing to do would probably to take her out of the spotlight - her management definitely have a duty of care towards her right now.
 
I just read the Doja Cat statement thinking I was in the Lana Del Rey thread and did wonder why on earth she’s now claiming to be a black woman :side-eye:

Does she actually need to make much of an apology though? She’s obviously been messy but hasn’t really done anything to harm anybody else apart from herself, from what I can tell. And who hasn’t been there on one occasion or another?
 
She's literally a black woman spending time (years of it) camming with men's rights goblins in a murky corner of the internet - at the very least they are racist as fuck and she is voluntarily "friends" with them, degrading herself and seemingly being quite cool with them throwing the N word around (and there are receipts for that, so saying she has never been involved in racist conversations is fully bullshit).

The matter is complicated by what seems to be an inate self loathing she's dealing with, but yes she should apologise and then she should seek help. This woman has one of the biggest songs of the year - what is she doing wasting her time with a bunch of internet basement bros?
 
I really think she needs removing from the public spotlight at the moment.
The stuff about alcoholism, and videos of her surrounded by empty bottles is just so dark and horrible.

The last thing she needs is to be putting herself out for more public judgement.

She actually did a live yesterday (while drunk?) and straight up said the apology was written by the label. Apparently she gave a much more in depth one herself but i haven't watched yet
 
Pulling a Lana in this video, just keep digging deeper hun. Going into these chat rooms is not something that she started doing just last week, she's been doing it for years (evidently so) so why is she justifying it? to raise awareness?
