Your Love is utterly gorgeous. that chorus is a big warm hug until the final line, which leaves you hanging on a note of melancholy before dropping out into that clubby guitar riff. and the hints of early 00s mellow trance buried in the production are utterly spectacular.

This song, like so many on this album, really kind of defined what I think of as the "Kylie sound". Many emotions rolled into one big, sophisticated, danceable moment of shimmering beauty.

Burning Up is basic as fuck to these ears. Even Soldi rejected it from his 00s playlist.

I used to rate Burning Up a 10. It hasn’t aged as well for me.

Burning Up is such a strange closer! It doesn't feel like the most distinct song on this album, but I really enjoy the way she races through the stripped back, very brief verses and the chorus is one BIG LONG CLUBBY CELEBRATION. Special shoutout to her BVs and adlibs on this track (and across this album really) - very sensual. And it's always a treat to hear her singing in her lower register.

As alluded to in the write-up, Light Years is a much warmer, more human album. It's unashamedly camp and a total celebration of disco culture. Fever is the exact reverse of the coin - cool, sophisticated, clubby, borderline emotionless, often robotic in its adherence to rhythm. It feels more like a concept album in some ways. Both contain her greatest singles, demonstrate pretty astonishing quality control and have aged really well.

Tightrope is a total 10. It's fucking beautiful! I can see why they didn't include it - it feels like it has more in common with Light Years spiritually, if not sonically. But it's amazing, and both it and Good Like That () could've been included without sacrificing any quality.
