What invention or innovation would you like to see in the world?

One that occurred to me the other day is that the empty space at the end of a chapter in a novel should be used to summarise the story so far, for people who are picking up the book again after a while or have trouble following the story like myself.

It's just WASTED SPACE and it would really help some people

I have no idea if something like this already exists but as someone who moved around a lot in my formative years and actually moved here without knowing ANYONE an app would maybe be handy for people to put in their interests and match up with people in a platonic form. Maybe for people who are moving to a completely new city, or just for people who want to make new friends. So dating but on friend scale and if it goes any further then SO BE IT.

There's a website (and presumably an app?) called Meetup for this very purpose hun!

occasionally in my early days in new cities I've taken a look but everyone using it seems to be thoroughly MIDDLE AGED so I think it's not really for me*

(*would make an exception if I saw you wanted to meet on a platonic basis Reet, obvs, to drink black russians and play me your demo CD from back in the day)

I found MeetUp dead handy when I was away last year. The English speaking options were limited but I found an LGBT group, yoga and a writing group, and there were others I was going to try but got to nervous too. Varied ages but that was fine.

I wish I'd tried it in previous cities actually.

There is one! I tried it. Wasn't bad till my friend's wife told him he wasn't allowed to play with me any more. Not many women in my area without them wanting to meet other mothers. Patook.

I want to make it so that everyone's telephone number is their order in line to the British throne.

Prince Charles can be #1 and my phone number will stay similar to now.

wouldn’t that be constantly updated due to deaths and births and marriages to non-white people?

I would like to see multipacks of cans of pop in the same way you get multipacks of crisps.

A coke, a sprite, a Fanta, Fanta lemon, Dr Pepper, maybe a rubicon.

or even just coke, cherry coke, vanilla coke x 2

ooh yes like those Variety packs of little cereal boxes! <3

After trying to find any pub that might have an outdoor area available for my birthday in a few weeks' time (yes I know I left it far too late) I wish someone would invent an aggregation website like hotels.com but for pubs and bars.

I really like this outdoor food/drink place right outside London Bridge
Me too; all booked up though! It's completely my fault for leaving it so late; I just find it frustrating having to do the same search on each individual pub website instead of having some aggregator to do it for me.

I booked The Distillery in SE1 and they seemed pretty available - they do some package deals as well for alcohol

I'd like a flying cat.
They've already made one of those:

We're doing London Bridge on Monday - in case you've not tried all of these already @David 5000 : Horseshoe, Wheatsheaf, Mudlark, Horniman at Hays, Miller.

Kind of nervous now that everything is going to reopen but then be booked up all summer.

*sigh*

No need to get depressed; you'll be fine as long as you can make plans two months in advance!

(also things will get a lot easier from 17 May when indoor socialising opens up)
