Inspired by The Woman In The Window thread

they really were great weren’t they? I wonder if there’s any I haven’t seen, please share here so I can trawl through the basement or Netflix trying to find them

here’s one for starters

Funnily enough also starring (a pre-fame) Julianne Moore

This is from 2000 so I’m already ruining the thread but it’s totally appropriate

I haven’t seen The Crush is it any good

They have to be GOOD, Not just camp, for me, I’m quite fussy

Do EROTIC THRILLERS count? Because obviously Basic Instinct is a must, and the sequel (despite not being from the Nineties) is one of the campest films I've ever seen :disco:

oh there were so many weren’t there. The woman who plays the lead alongside Rebecca DEMORNEEAY in Hand That Rocks The Cradle was in quite a few of them. There was one famous one about a bondage killer or something.

Most of them are trash but some are great, like Basic Instinct

All the John Grisham ones were great, particularly A Time To Kill and The Client. So hammy but well acted and lots of high drama

Ones I need to watch then:

The Fear
The Crush
Malice
Poison Ivy

I haven’t actually heard of them! Where should I start

The blueprint for all of these was probably Fatal Attraction, which I find a bit boring (of course Glenn Close is anything but boring in it).
Double Jeopardy is another favourite of mine. I could watch that on repeat, just like SWF, The Hands That Rocks the Cradle (before Julianne Moore discovered teet whitening) and Sleeping with the Enemy. Does Showgirls count as a thriller? It kind of fits in with Basic Instinct and Sliver...

I didn’t realise I loved this genre until this thread. The Hand That Rocks The Cradle is my favourite- I still think Rebecca de Mornay was robbed of an Oscar nom for that. I can quote it (ish) and fuck me, there’s some classics:

“Give me back my baby or I’ll BASH YOUR SKULL IN”
“DON’T FUCK WITH ME RETARD. Cause my version of the story will be better than yours”
“Something the matter, Claire?”
“When your husband makes love to you, it's my face he sees. When your baby's hungry, it's my breast that feeds him. Look at you! When push comes to shove, Claire...you can't even breathe!”
“THIS IS MY FAMILY”

*spazzes out with a plunger in a cubicle whilst cottaging*

:disco:

I also love Sleeping With The Enemy (“Der Feind In Meinem Bett” as a German film poster I had up in my bedroom for many years said) and Dead Calm. Both ridiculous, of course.
One of the all time best. *flushes ring down toilet*

I've re-enacted that particular one many a time :disco:

I absolutely LOVE The Crush. Not only is Alicia Silverstone magnetically off the rails and totally loving her own performance but I honestly think it’s the greatest Lolita performance I’ve ever seen. You are totally on her side.

I agree that Fatal Attraction was the blueprint for most of these. Iconic film.

@Ellie I don’t know Deceived and I love Goldie Hawn. :o Worth a look?
