Performing my rituals tonight to help the Witches win!

The Craft Witch GIF

17.000 votes tonight, when last night there were 45.000, that's every Galician voting :eyes: So the witches might win the televote after all, now I understand why the jury did that, you don't mess with TVE's plans.

Presuming that’s the point of the random demiscopic jury as well, to give the public a say while levelling off things like that.

Book of stats time!

I just showed the Ay Mamá performance to three non Spanish-speaking casual Eurovision viewers with no prior context.

Two of them loved it
All three got what it was about

I really don't see why a huge bunch of fans suddenly think that incredibly wordy and hook-free Rayden song is the saving grace for Spain this year. It's annoying!

Ay Mama needs work on the staging, but it clearly has the most potential.

I’d say likeliness of who’s going to win

1. Rigoberta
2. Tanxuguieras (The jury might have tanked them but they’re looking good to winning the televote and the demoscopic jury ranked them highly too)
3. Rayden
4. Chanel (I think she could get a bit lost in the mix amongst the other favourites)

It is essentially those four vs the rest though, no one else has a chance.

Ay Mama's been my favourite since the start and vocally that performance proves I'm really backing the right horse. Though, I get it'd be against the point of the entry to start censoring itself but the staging is its weak point, the way it's currently set up it runs the risk of making a powerful song reduced to 'the one with the joke staging'.

There's plenty of time to improve the staging from a relatively low-budget soundstage on Spanish TV. It's not like what we saw last night was a Melfest final.

Presumably her staging doesn't really matter. If there's the slightest chance that she'll pop a tit out in front of however many millions the EBU claim are watching this year, presumably her entire performance will be filmed at an awkward wide angle with a technician's hand hovering over the button to drop in rehearsal footage if she looks like she's reaching for her top.

:D @ some of the things I'm reading. Of course she's not gonna show her tits on stage! I mean, she would if she was allowed to do so :disco: but it's more about how can we "show tits" without really showing. Of course the staging was cheap and ridiculous, her bodysuit was cheap as hell and I guess they'll change that and a few things, but that was the whole point, she went on stage wiith her cousins to be ridiculous and have fun. It's all about how this is a great song that brings all together singing; you know I rarely like the Spanish entry, so it's not that I'm gonna like it because it's our entry, that rarely happens. Well, I think this is the best song we've sent in decades. I have no idea if it would be top ten in Eurovision, if Europe would like it, but I couldn't care less, I freaking love it and I want Rigoberta on stage in May in Turin.

Now will that happen? I think she's gonna win. She's clearly the favourite with the Spanish audience. The witches might still win the televote with the blockvoting from Galicia (the share in Spain for the first semi was 11%, in Galicia 24%), but that's why the other televote (well, the demiscopic jury) is there for. The witches have no chance because the jury are going to place them low, so it's either Chanel or Rigoberta. And it would be a SHOCK if the jury goes with Chanel, I believe TVE choice is Rigoberta, but we'll find out this Saturday. Chanel won't have more televote than Rigoberta.

Of course that's only my vision of the things and I'm really nervous :shy:

Btw, BenidormFest was the most watched programme last night by a mile, zooming up from semi 1. I can't remember the last time this happened, you have to go back to the old days of OT with Rosa and Beth (oh probably the Chiki Chiki year too ) Is it possible the BBC would take note and have something similar in coming years? I mean, this was unthinkable just one year ago, and yes, a few things need to improve, but it's been a decent show so far. Surely the BBC can do this much better?
