I suppose in certain corners of Tory ideology it makes sense. When you've accepted that people who do work have to use foodbanks to survive, what right do those who can't or refuse to work have to live?

This is a party heading back to the very maddest and baddest days of its post-1997 period. The idea that there are people who can’t be arsed to work has always been the nastiest of its tropes. It is a total and utter lie and the likes of Braverman are leaning right into it.

The real scandal is that we live in a country where work itself doesn’t pay for so many who do work and want to work more.

Her appearance on Marr (?) talking about Turkey imminently joining the EU when that was absolute rubbish is the only thing I've seen of hers.

I don't know much else about her or what she believes in, which is probably going to help.
 
A quick search shows she's pretty clean aside from the obvious Splash! appearance.

The difference is they make up an absolute tiny percentage of people and have absolutely no bearing on the welfare state in the grand scheme of costs and resources. It’s funny how they like to talk about benefit cheats but no mention of the money they piss away every year on failed initiatives, civil service restructures, treating senior civil servants (their mates) as fat cats with outrageous bonuses and funding useless think tanks, task forces and planning committees that usually amount to fuck all other than a mound of paperwork and an excuse to keep posh twats in jobs

I think Braverman is the canary in the coalmine, in a way - is she going too far or is she going where the party membership wants to go? They'll find out and adjust accordingly.

I agree. She’s the one I’m hoping for now. She seems one of the less extreme ones - doesn’t seem to hate gays, wasn’t one of the fucking morons who voted for Brexit - and also completely unelectable.

She’s one of the better ones on the surface, but that TERF-y rant the other day may have been a show of her true colours.

In reality she fumbled through her speech and spoke of HARSH TRUTHS. Obviously her LGBTQ record is dogshit.
