A Journey Through SAW

So while Help! is the single for the latest episode the most interesting tidbits relate to the Pop Life sessions.

There are some very brief but amusing comments from Youth (Sara runs the Nana show and Keren is her 'ever-attendant sidekick' :D).

Also some high level delusion from Matt Aitken that there was the prospect of SAW coming up with a Nana album equalling or surpassing Wow! at that time.

It annoyed me that they didn’t follow up on Youth’s “that was a tough gig!” comment.

Thoroughly enjoyable episode again, though. And seemingly the Nanas still ENTIRELY ignore them :disco:

Is anyone watching the Channel 5 documentary? Good to see the faces (well some of them) even though the podcast has told the story in more depth.

I did enjoy the Reynolds Girls episode of the podcast. Especially David Howells being a bit vague about what went wrong :D

And a whole episode on This Time I Know It’s For Real next time oh yes I do think so :disco:

I'm planning a (bracing) Sunday morning walk to listen to the Reynolds Girls episode.

I do like the deep dives they are taking now on more of the singles. Maybe they know they are onto a good thing and are dragging it out but fine by me.

Oh they can drag it out FOREVER as far as I’m concerned!

It never fails to amaze me how HETERO SAW and members of the general PWL operation were, given how utterly faggy (:disco:) their songs were. I’d always assumed that Phil Harding at least would be a club member MAIS APPARENTLY NON! (Have you read his book, @FetchFugly?)

Kim looking lovely in this documentary but Hazell might want to reconsider the HIDEOUS BOWL CUT

No haven't read Phil's book but have been thinking I probably SHOULD

Hazell might want to get the hairspray out again, though I did wonder if the bowl do was a wig.

Well I for one am DYING for the next episode of THAT :disco:

Kylie kept visually reminding me of someone else and I eventually worked out that it was Katya Zamo, at least to an extent. No shade as there’s obviously no higher compliment :disco:

I completely forgot that the second part of the SAW documentary was on tonight - it seems it is two parts rather than three as originally suggested.

Pete Waterman: 'I don't see anyone else's viewpoint...'

Ooo LOVELY

I was a bit disappointed that this week’s podcast didn’t mention that This Time I Know It’s For Real is written in an exceptionally miserable key (E Minor!) which renders it not so quietly unjoyful despite the disco fun and suggests strong elements of doubt and it all going badly tits up for poor Donna - NOT FOR REAL AT ALL! - but I suppose we’re not all musicologists :)

I also enjoyed Matt Aitken very reasonably expressing disappointment that This Time… wasn’t number 1 for weeks on end AS IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN! (The same can be said for Better The Devil You Know - those two were SAW’s greatest moments BY FAR!)

The DISGUST at only getting to number seven in the US :D

I’ve been very much enjoying Matt playing ball both with the documentary and the podcast as he was always my favourite of the three and seemed to disappear for years, to the extent that I thought he might be DEAD
