Gay sex? How vulgar!
In this stunning book that I’m reading the biggest scandal so far is about this middle class girl being kissed (against her will) in a field of violets in Italy by an atheist/socialist nobody. le shock!
I think I can now call myself an E.M. Forster fan.
I just finished Girl, Woman, Other. the epilogue floored me
I know you already know, but Chronicles of a Blood Merchant was so good! Thank you for recommending!
We just discussed this at our book club last night. Was my second go round. Still love it.I know I'm late to the party and you GIRLS have been all over this for a couple of years, but I just finished the audiobook of this and I think it may have broken me. I normally listen to audiobooks on long journeys in the car, but finished this on a walk along the beach in streams of tears. Getting looks, GETTING LOOKS! The narrator was perfect. Definitely added to the whole experience for me.
The fact it's written in English by a non- native speaker makes the beauty of the prose even more beautiful. I enjoyed it thoroughly.

LOVED "Swimming In The Dark".
I always recommend "Lie With Me" too, very much in the same vein, also with an ending to ruin your afternoon (and translated by Molly Ringwald!)
What is it now?
Does it at least rhyme?Anyway, I’m reading this one now. And while it’s beautiful and all, I think I’m too stupid for poetry.

Oh another poetry collection / short volume / art 'pamphlet' for RS to bump up the numbers for Goodreads. I see you
Even when I read the big classics I’m ahead of you in the Goodreads charts!
