A guilty pleasure

(Also really love the b-side Desire)

A nice song that was entirely beyond her vocally (though to be fair, Baa Baa Black Sheep would have been a stretch…)

Not only it's not a VERY GOOD SONG but it killed killed STONE DEAD any remaining chance of keeping her pop star status afloat at the time.

There were better choices in the album but I have a feeling that making IRM a lead single was not the best idea, although it did wonders for her, it wouldn't have hurt to have it as a stand-alone single and then moved on with the album; also the timing wasn't right since this was amid a Spice backlash going on what with Mel's Reason flopping and Emma & Vic being dropped.

Apparently, it was Geru herself who pushed for this as a single (over Circles Round The Moon) and was pretty gutted when it flopped :o 💀

Guys, not sure if it's been mentioned, but there's even a French version (discovery is a journey after all).

Mylène Farmer was bedridden for a week.

Some nice cinematography in the video - the label probably put it out in the hopes of calming her down.

I'd probably say Scream If You Wanna Go Faster hurt her career more than Calling did.

But yeah it's pretty diabolical.

I am surprised she didn't try to sing this in Spanish because her mother is Spanish and the backing track is very ELDORADO

I think Scream If You Wanna Go Faster probably did hurt career more, but it's at least a hot mess. Calling is just a really boring song.

These girls just had the worst taste when left to their own devices. The solo singles output between late 2001 and all through 2003 was abysmal.

Scream If You Wanna Go Faster the album was disappointing compared the first. Should've just done the 2nd album with Absolute, like she did on Schizophonic. The song I thought was awful at the time but I like it more with time. Definitely not a single.

The whole album was awful, and that’s from a fan at the time.

Nothing would’ve been a hit from that other than the dodgy (but fun) cover. Plus I think the time was just coming up for all things solo Spice to be over as far as being commercial forces.

I only own the debut albums from all 5 but then stopped because frankly, it was too much of an effort :D

Geri wanted this released because George MICHAELS said it was his fave

I don't mind the song but with that video it just made a really drab single.

I thought Circles Round the Moon or Strength of a Woman would have been a bitter single, but looking back they would have all had a similar fate I think.

To think 'Feels Like Sex' was going to be the first SINGAL before IRM came along :o :disco:

Now, since she’s NEVER charted over here, I looked up the chart info on Calling and I can’t believe how MEAN you monsters are.

From Wikipedia: “Altogether, the song sold 70,515 copies and became the 192nd best selling single of 2001 in the United Kingdom” :D

George Michaels hearing those NOX and encouraging her to release it as a single. I wonder if he and Kenny managed to hold in their laughter until after she left the room. Gay best friends can be so MEAN :(
