What are her Hot 100 stats?

I knew about the two Top Tens but I didn’t realise that ISBSL and LAFS had also been genuine hits!

2001-2002 was a period when RnB/Rap music pretty much dominated the upper reaches of the Hot 100. Loads of pop classics from that era have deceptively low chart peaks. For example, despite arguably being at the all-time peak of her powers, Britney’s early 00s chart stats are pitiful.

If things had been a bit more evenly stacked I believe CGYOOMH would have been an easy top 3, possible #1 and LAFS probably high teens/low top ten.

Out of interest, I just looked up the Billboard Hot 100 chart the week CGYOOMH peaked.

1.(1) Jennifer Lopez feat. JA Rule - Ain't It Funny
2.(2) JA Rule feat. Christina Milian - Always on Time
3.(4) Linkin Park - In The End
4.(3) Nickelback - How You Remind Me
5.(5) The Calling - Wherever You Will Go
6.(8) Puddle of Mudd - Blurry
7.(10) Kylie Minogue - Can't Get You Out of My Head
8.(12) Fat Joe feat. Ashanti- What's Luv?
9.(7) Brandy - What About Us?
10.(13) Tweet - Oops! (Oh My!)

isn't it actually that cd singles had ground to a halt or stopped being issued at all in some cases, so the Hot 100 was much more heavily dictated by airplay and radio?

You know I love a good list, and whenever I've come across any sales lists for artists around that era, particularly pop or singles sales or female artists, Britney is always surprisingly low down and sometimes even AWOL. Christina regularly appears above her, as does Pink, Kelly, J-Lo... I always found that surprising.

Conversely, her album sales are huge. I know that's largely front ended from the first 2 albums, but still, she reverses the singles to albums sales trend for pop artists. Maybe it is to do with the behavioural thing VoR mentions.

It’s (partly) this. CD singles were still a thing at this point, but CGYOOMH was never released on cd single in the US to maximise album sales. It was actually massive and would have been a likely #1 hit with sales included. A few years earlier the chart rules had changed as some massive hits (Torn for example) were not allowed to chart as they didn’t have a physical release.

Hence also why Fever stormed in at #3 in the US and sold well over a million.

Most of Britney Spears's early singles weren't released physically in America. Jive Records did that a lot with their acts (Backstreet Boys, *NSYNC) to drive album sales, hence why they were routinely getting 1+ million sales in a week.

On the other hand, I think all of Christina Aguilera's singles were released physically, and that worked really well because it more or less guaranteed she'd dominate the Billboard Hot 100 in a way that Britney Spears didn't.

Britney only had a physical release for Baby One More Time and From The Bottom Of My Broken Heart from her debut album. For Ooops they only released a CD single for Stronger.

Christina Aguilera had physical releases¿ for every single of her debut as well as an album rerelease to include the Single Versions of What a Girl Wants and Come On Over.

Yep, once iTunes sales were introduced pop music started getting a better shake.

It's absolutely wild that Britney Spears has four US #1 hits in total and three of them are Womanizer, Hold It Against Me and 3. :D
The early 2000s Hot 100 definitely skewed in favor of hip hop/rap/MOR dad rock because of the lack of single sales and radio's disdain for any pure pop after 2000.

I recall "Love at First Sight" being EVERYWHERE (just as big as CGYOOMH), so its #23 peak always shocks me but makes sense given the state of the Hot 100 at that time.

I've always wondered how "Red Blood Woman" would have done if it was pushed in the US over "Slow". It fit right in with US radio at that time.

wasn't it due to it being huge on Pop and Mainstream radio stations but not on Rhythmic, A/C, and the like? I remember reading that back then it was a mix of being everywhere and covering every possible ground hence why pop artists recurred to having rap guests on their songs; Overprotected (Darkchild), Girlfriend (Nelly Remix), I'm Real (Ja Rule) were examples of pop artists wanting to get playlisted on "urban" stations. LAFS didn't stand a chance of being played on anything outside pop stations so I presume CGYOOMH was an anomaly and was played everywhere.

It peaked at #11 on pop radio, so I'm not sure it was played much anywhere else. But it seemed ubiquitous at the time. I think VH1/MTV used it as background music in all their programming. She performed it a bunch on TV here too.

Had hoped it may rise higher (and potentially come off ACR) given its initial Spotify increases, but it’s much harder on ACR to move up with stream values halved.

I imagine it’ll be out the top 75 for the next two weeks and then ought to re-enter on album release week.

And if she doesn't appear herself then a Padam Padam pro dance opening one of the results shows would be JUST THE TICKET.

Johannes in thigh high red PVC boots feels like a given

So instead we got a blast of it in the launch show, with Craig as some sort of FRENCH SAILOR -

Re-enters at #75 on Spotify and up to #25 again on Apple. Not sure it’ll be enough for a reset as it falls over the week, but it may have a shot.

Sorry if this is old news but did we know that one of the ‘Padam Padam’ writers said it was initially sent to Rita Ora who had a last minute change of heart about recording it and other (unnamed) acts on the label before landing with Kylie?

Now CONFIRMED that this was indeed our Lorraine, singing about how you want to take off all her clothes, while dressed as a schoolboy owl in a classroom setting
