According to her instagram stories the song will be on Spotify today. WTF! She clearly doesn't give a shit about charts anymore. Oh well.

Isn’t that to let it build for a couple of days? ITunes you need the early sales, but shouldn’t Spotify grow over the first few days?

NOT THAT IT WILL MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE ANYWAY :D

No.

The big first day is almost always from being featured on New Music Friday so releasing on a Wednesday has no real advantage at all. Songs from non-streaming acts rarely/never grow after day 1.

But it doesn't matter A JOT for M because it's the difference between #85 on the Hot 100 and #5 Bubbling Under and frankly no one cares
 
It'll open BIG on Spotify and then collapse, won't it? Which is entirely to be expected - it's just a question of if it can rebuild.

I'd have thought that what day it's released on in terms of numbers is therefore reasonably irrelevant. Except like Jark says, of the New Music Friday thing.

Depends on the song. He's huge on streaming in Latin America so it may well be a hit there. IF it's not a hit elsewhere we can blame Trump, Brexit and the Notre Dame tragedy.
 
I would say that at this point in time there is more 'goodwill' towards Kylie in the UK than Madonna. And I truly think Golden was (still is) fantastically executed as an album campaign.

Again, depends on the song & the album but I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Golden outsells Madame X in the UK but that's a whole other discussion which I'd rather not get into. If screenshots of this post end up on Madonna forums I'd have my balls chopped off...

I would imagine there isn't much doubt about it - Golden (135k+ sold no?) will definitely outsell Madame X in the UK

Oh absolutely. "Golden" has been an actual hit! It's going to take some going for "Madame X" to hit that.

She does seem more invested in the promo this time around, though. At least SEEMINGLY SO...
 
What are the sales figures for Rebel Heart and MDNA?
 
According to Wikipedia, MDNA is just under 135k and was year end #81, Rebel Heart 76.5k and year end #78, both from a March release date.

I think just arresting the decline would be a start.
 
3 months in Rebel Heart was at 77k - I can't imagine it sold much after, but she did tour so maybe closer to 85k now? MDNA is somewhere near 140k.

Ah, Lolly got there first. She can definitely sell 80k with a smart single choice or two and the launch promo. A 30-40k first week should be doable.

That figure I quoted for Rebel Heart does seem to be from 2015 looking at the source - so it probably is a little (but not much) more than that.

In all fairness I don't think the leaks and subsequent 'panic' with the release helped Rebel Heart. As for MDNA, the rubbish singles and her insistence on not doing any promo outside of Superbowl didn't help either.

Not making excuses, just Madgesplaining!
 
The loons keep saying Rebel Heart sold 1 million worldwide but really unless it sold 500K+ in Uzbekistan, the numbers just don't add up!!

I was shaking and crying (violently) in the corner when Tori did it.

I imagine Louise Munchkin is a bit of a closet Madonna fan but I'm sure they'd reel out Charlie as he's always in there with celebs ugh (lovely hair though).

Conflicting info from so called insiders who have heard it. One says it's not reggaeton at all and it's more like "La Isla Bonita" whilst another (unfortunately, more reliable, source) says it's really 'chill' reggaeton and sounds a lot more like a Maluma song than Madonna (i.e. 4 Minutes rewind)
 
Well this the most excited I've been for a Madonna single since, oooh, "Hung Up"?

And lest we forget, things were running at FEVER PITCH by the time that single came around, with weeks of perfect teasing and squeezing :disco:

Here's hoping it sounds A LOT like Maluma's and Shakira's past collabs "Chantaje" and "Clandestino" give them a listen they're FABULOUS and surely what Madonna needs to change it up a bit.
