I’ve had it on loop. Once the intro is out the way it’s really quite lovely

Like Sheena said, there's a good song hidden there but JERMAINE'S :manson: cheap as chips production lets it down and the sample obviously saves it.

That intro is LAUGHABLE.

The song is like the cover. Ok, but the usual quality control is lacking.

Catch me once these painkillers wear off and I'd call it squeaky, muddled and a bit beneath her (not to mention Lauryn). I know it's a cast-offs project, but even so.

I don't see any chance of my score of 6 changing... at least not for the better :basil:

I am impressed with the reaction online though. All internet gays of course, but from what I've seen it's at least 65% love, 25% positive and then the hateful 10% cc @Whatevar

And SURELY it's a shoo-in for Record of the Week on Radio 2 and the likes. The general public of a certain age/mums will lap it up. TBC

I noticed this was copyrighted to MARIAH on Spotify. Has she left Epic records?

It’s ok but she should have just covered Killing Me Softly because the only good bits are the parts reminiscent of that record. Very little of the good stuff on this is Mariah. I have all her albums before anyone says I’m just hating.

I’d imagine she’s just asserting her rights to material that was created outside of their influence? I’m sure she’s still with them generally

Can someone with Apple Music confirm or deny reports that JD's tag isn't on that version? It's there on iTunes... yes I did buy it.

What do you mean "tag"? His name isn't anywhere on the track listing, but he still does his dumb bit at the start of the song.

This came on on shuffle while I was at the gym and it popped off a little, although I did cue up Killing Me Softly straight away afterwards because the middle-eight was too much to resist

That being said, I'm thirsty (uh u thirsty) for a new hidden gem. Feed us, Mariah!

The chorus to this is brilliant. I just wish the verses weren't so featherweight. If they had a little more punch, the song could've been such an anthem.

Regardless, it's growing for me.

I'm sad at some of these lamb scores. This really does SLAP for me. The sample really should only be used in the chorus though. Queen of pronouns!

I will rate it 13 soon. But I am a discerning queen, so I like to wait at least a few days.
