My top 32 favourite Real Housewives of ALL TIME: room for MORE?

I do love her though. She wouldn't be a favourite, but she's close enough. Always a highlight during any repeated viewing, and largely responsible for NY being the best of the HW shows. I was ready for her to leave after the most recent season, but I'm actually really pleased that she's coming back. She has more greatness left in her.

And then there's the last couple of seasons. She's checked out, she doesn't really view these women as friends anymore, and she's just turning up for the cheque. Whereas before, RHONY showed her life, now it just feels like we're seeing her show up for a job, and counting down the seconds until she can return to her actual life with her actual friends. All 60 of them.

I wouldn't say she's fully checked out but has been phoning it in from S10 on. She does still show snippets of her life but never to the level of previous years. I thought she was quite real when she and Bethenny were comparing their childhoods in the bar upstate.

Ramona is one of the reasons the show is unwatchable - like a yapping dog on a permanent attack setting. It doesn’t feel like watching an actual person

I still can't actually watch these shows for the same reason I've never been able to watch Jeremy Kyle and the like. It's so terribly loud and that much conflict just sets my teeth on edge.

But these write-ups are easily among my Moopy highlights of the year so please continue. :D

[plea #356356] PLEASE watch the Real Housewives of Auckland - it's not like the shouty ones at all, and contains so many characters I know you would love

I can give you my login if you want? I am willing to sacrifice it all just for your thoughts on Angela Stone and her French assistant

A HAYU pass from NOWTV is honestly the best £4.99 anyone can spend.

HONESTLY I credit Housewives with keeping me sane since March this year.
Nothing like a load of camp nonsense with buckets of lifestyle porn to get weirdly obsessed over when ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ELSE is going on in the world :disco:

I'm sure my interest will wane once life returns to normal, but the last 6 months or so would have been QUITE DIFFERENT without the huge portfolio of Housewives franchises to dip into. There's only so much OLD EUROVISION one can take!

I REALLY should have added a Jill vs Ramona section to the write up shouldn't I :D
Oddly Jill didn't spring to mind when thinking about Ramona, Jill VS Bethenny was a far more dominant storyline - but this clip is absolutely amazing, and basically distills the essence of Ramona into ONE SINGLE CLIP!

I think @Lucille phrased her perfectly with this -

"I think Ramona is actually very smart, she’s self made, very successful, but also has a complete lack of emotional intelligence or empathy. She has no shame or guilt, which probably made her quite a cut-throat businesswoman."

IMAGINE if you could live a life without shame, guilt OR empathy! :disco:

I agree with what @Frozen said above, about NY potentially not lasting this long without Ramona on the show. It certainly wouldn't be the fan favourite without her, at least. As so much of the action revolves around the fall-out from her bullish mis-steps. Without Ramona, it's fair to say that none of the core cast of Sonja, Luann, Bethenny or Dorinda would have lasted so long. She unwittingly feeds them storylines. She can't help herself.

To me, there are four stages of Ramona throughout this show's run.

In the beginning I hated her. A loud, whiny, obnoxious irritant who used to see right through the bullshit of my faves - Jill and Luann - and wasn't afraid to set them straight on camera. And she was always, always right about them.

Then from season 4 onwards, I began to really warm to her - thanks mainly to her pair-up with Sonja. For the next few seasons she was a lot of fun to watch, really riled up all the new Housewives who'd joined the cast, and didn't seem to care one bit. The cast trips in particualr being a highlight.

Then there was the birth of a new kind of monster - from season 7, when Bethenny returned. The power struggle, the desparation for Bethenny to acknowledge her as an equal in business/clout (which is never gonna happen, and which kills Ramona still). Ramona was single again, she was attempting to climb society, and she was also trying to (and succeeding in) reverse the aging process. The glow-up brought out the best of her looks, and the absolute worst in her personality. New highs and new lows. I loved her around this time too.

And then there's the last couple of seasons. She's checked out, she doesn't really view these women as friends anymore, and she's just turning up for the cheque. @Will ON THE MONEY as per :disco:

Obsessed with the four stages of Ramona! :disco: and WHERE IS THE LIE!

I think we will see Ramona rise once again. I LOVED it, but series 12 was a very strange season overall. It mainly felt like a series of DRUNKEN SPECIAL ESCAPADES threaded together instead of a proper season. I'm sure the dynamic with two newbies. plus the continued ascension of Leah, will rattle Ramona one way or the other in season 13.

One bit of credit I will give Ramona is that she seems to be the ONLY ONE who can moderate her alcohol intake.

I’m in a YouTube hole with Ramona now

This is AMAZING!

I was going to add a section about Ramona's drinking to my write up, but I couldn't find the wording.
Unlike Sonja and Dorinda, she generally manages to hide the excesses of her drunkenness better - usually just resulting in an even more selfish and blunt Ramona than normal :D

She'd never admit to it, or even give it a serious thought, but from what we've seen Ramona's drinking has absolutely been a problem during points of the show.

Ooooh interesting you said that after my post, I feel she did get out of control in previous seasons but it is now much more careful about appearing drunk on camera than the other housewives.

Or maybe her drinking just seems less problematic because the rest of the cast are full-on unapologetic DRUNKS!

Ramona has never really had a SLOPPY DRUNK moment like much of the rest of the cast. The only time I can really remember actually seeing her noticeably inebriated is when she was threatening to “SHUDDERDOWN” on Scary Island, and in Season 5 in Antigua when her and Sonja stayed behind whilst the others went out for dinner.

I think deffo this! The early seasons she was drinking SO MUCH but was just better at hiding it, and looked comparatively sober compared to the likes of SONJA :D

She's deffo been self-producing a bit in more recent seasons, she's even swapped her trademark PINOT for basically watered down vodka with lime which I think will help her seem more sober on-camera :D

She can certainly handle her booze a lot better than Sonja or Dorinda. In the S9 Berkshires fight with Bethenny, she's been drinking all day with everyone but can still hold a semi-coherent argument whereas Sonja's sliding off chairs.

I never quite understood her obsession with Pinot Grigio as it’s the ultimate basic bitch cheap-ass wine yet she seemed to think it was the epitome of CLASS and SOPHISTICATION.

I honestly believe she must have STANK in the earlier seasons of that horrific mix of MAKE UP, (expensive, but sickly sweet smelling) PERFUME and WINE WINE vapour seeping out her pores from where somebody has been drinking consistently over an extended period :zombie:

It’s the new money thing.

I think her drinking was a lot worse in the earlier seasons but around the time Mario dumped her and she re-invented herself she switched to vodka as it’s less calories.

Also it’s funny watching her trying to make her version of VODKA, SODA, LIME her thing, with a recipe that is basically Bethenny’s Skinny Girl Margarita but with the tequila switched for vodka.

Oh surely Rosè is the basic bitch drink of choice?

Remember that scene from season 7 or 8 when Carole and I think Bethenny go to one of Ramona's events with her 60 closest girlfriends in a REALLY SLIM bar, and EVERYBODY THERE is blonde and looks like some sort of variation of Ramona or Jennifer Coolidge crossed with a surgical nightmare :D (of course, aside from the friend that looks like a LONG DEAD Liza Minelli who pops up from time to time :D)

The scene really needs to be on youtube, it's like a FEVER DREAM - especially when the editing zooms in on some of the surgically altered FACES!

There's one friend of hers whose face is stretched beyond belief and I swear she popped up at Jen's party on SLC.
