She's been the breakout star of X Factor 2012, but what did you make of her long-gestating debut album?

Oh and of course Goldeneye is an honourary 10 too, it's all about the pained ad libs at the end.

Weighed down by forgettable ballad filler, but the uptempos on this album were really enjoyable.

Try With Me really got a bum rap. They obviously thought it was going to be a huge hit, but interest had just fizzled out at that point. Shame as it's a beautiful song. The ad-libs at the end are glorious.

If only we've gotten Guns And Roses and Cold in this album, I would give it a 9.5 :disco:

The post-date rape haze artwork is quite something.

A very good pop album but certainly has its few flaws.

08 Poison
09 Killer Love

08 Wet
08 Say Yes
09 Club Banger Nation
06 Power's Out

10 Heartbeat
06 Casualty

The build-up to the chorus in "Club Banger Nation" really is everything, such a :disco: moment on the treadmill.

Calling this a classic is more than pushing it. A couple of really good tracks but on the whole a very big disappointment.

The uptempo's really are bloody good.

It's just the constant shit ballads that let it down. An 8 track EP would've been blinding :disco:

Try With Me is my #1 Nicole song by far these days. So unfairly slept on. It's all about those forlorn outro vocals.

'Poison' and 'Club Banger Nation' are absolute jams, but for some reason my friends love to play 'Wet' when getting wasted, so it has some (admittedly hazy) good memories associated with it.

Dammit. I voted 10 but for some reason thought this thread was about the song, not the album. Album-wise I'd give it an 8.

It's hard to believe this spent about 5 months in the chart and sold around 200k. Utter madness!

I don't care to remind myself what much of it sounds like, but the RedOne meets 90s Lilt advert ladies Club Bamger Nation and aggressive bits on Try With Me still get me good.

Killer Love, the title track, was quite blatantly meant to be a Gaga track right? The refrain and the middle 8 are so Fame/Fame Monster Gaga, and weirdly if I think if it was given a Born This Way industrial reswizzle I think it would be a peak Gaga moment to be honest.

Also a great song in Nicole's hands, but she sounds so much more at home on Don't Hold Your Breath - now that was a classic. Hooks and melody for days.

But it already DOES sound more Born This Way than the previous albums?

The album could have been great if she had stuck with solely RedOne as it was first planned. There were some great tracks left off:

There was another track called Guns and Roses but there's no YouTube link any longer.

She might as well have recorded this RedOne production as well

ooh I should bump a Red One thread somewhere cause I've been bopping to JLO's Hypnotico a lot lately :disco: Surely that one was too basic for GaGA?

Do we have to split this thread then?

I love how Red One re-sells his materials including the very same backing vocals. That Tami Chynn version is basically the same as JLO's :disco:}

Same with this shit

"Oh just paste Nicki's verses but leave everything else intact no one will notice"

"Oh just paste Nicki's verses but leave everything else intact no one will notice"
I mean no one will notice indeed since it was a demo anyway? The Tami Chynn version wasn't officially released either.

He literally did a copy and paste with his productions though and we loved him for it.:disco:

I'm still waiting for her to release Black Dog, "coming Summer 2011" according to this OFFICIAL VIDEO :eyes:

Did this ever leak? If she'd had lasting solo success maybe she would have been able to explore other genres like this, which I for one would have been very into.

I'm guessing the label said no and wanted cute R&B bops like Right There and club smashas like Wet instead but more importantly the filler that took up half the album. :) The whole pop rock sound she was going for with RedOne was great.
