The middle 8 is giving major "Oops I Did It Again" vibes.

But yes, this is fantastic - just a shame that Diplo's involved. He's a bit of an ick factor for me.

I noticed he'd done a few bits with various drag queens, notably Trixie Mattel. But I don't think I'd bothered to watch him perform until this.

I really don’t love his voice but he’s had a few ok songs over the years. I seem to tolerate him better when he has duets like with Kylie, Trixie, Shania etc His solo songs bore me typically. He really pours on that “country” and you can tell it’s theater kid forced.

I also thought this, too, as soon as I heard the song. Like "oh, Kylie, not riding the country train, not you..." and then I remembered that she actually was way ahead of the curve (and probably so way ahead that most people completely forgot that she actually did go country before it became fashionable of late).
But, since it's a collab in someone's else's project, I think it's a wise move and it gives traction to a younger artist, too.
So, everybody wins!

I mean, how else would I have known that there is a male country singer with SUCH an interesting back catalogue of ... nudes? :zsazsa:
 
Honestly I'm surprised people are zeroing in on the country aspect. It's just a BOP in and of itself and Kylie sounds fantastic on it (her delivery is more disco than country anyway - cue jokes :basil:).

I agree with @ZZ , he has a really good voice.

Yeah it seems to have woken up a lot of new fans on Twitter. Some seem shocked and I’m like honey he’s a faqqot in this day and age…of course there are nudes. The majority of us have nudes somewhere out there lol
 
It’s an instantly catchy basic bop so quite enjoyable but I imagine it, like most of ‘Tension’’ will have a shelf life of approximately 2 weeks with my ears.

I like it, but I'm not ripping my mask or chaps off for it just yet. A solid 8 - it does sound like a grower though.
