Alas, no. Cos the SNP get very few list seats because they completely sweep the constituencies, they basically only get list seats in Southern Scotland (three there, another one in Highlands and Islands). As such, the c. 40% of the list vote the SNP get is usually wasted, so the seats pretty much all go to the Greens/unionist parties. The unionist parties are the ones who'll be getting elbowed out of the way the most by this (on the presumption people likely to be voting Alba on the list probably weren't going to be voting Green, which is a bit of a presumption but I imagine is the case for the majority of them).Does this not just split the pro-independence vote on the list making it more likely for a Yoon to slip through?
I'd absolutely LOVE it if it was UK wide. It's the perfect mix of fair results and understandable enough to actually still understand the permutations easily if things shift a bit between the parties (FUCK YOU STV)I understand the Scottish system (and is my favourite current UK voting system), but it's tricky to just dive into.
Kitty from Arrested DevelopmentShe's Canadian, and is reminding me of SOMEONE from a 90s US sitcom and it's driving me mad that I can't put my finger on it.
She means well but I'm not sure she's coming across particularly well - I think Patrick Harvie would have been a better choice.
