TV Ratings 2020

That was the Christmas Day episode. Which I believe was the Den serving Angie with divorce papers episode. Not that I've watched the show for two decades, but surely one of the all time iconic moments?
I suspect that and "you're not my mother" are most iconic EE moments.

I would assume so. Eastenders was not shown where I was growing up.

These figures are mind boggling. I had no idea Blind Date was so popular.

Eastenders must have lost it’s grip on the nation in 1990 and who knew Neighbours was not only the UK’s top soap, but most watched programme. :o

I remember I used to want to be Mariette from Darling Buds of May. She was beautiful.

Which episode of Wogan did 18 million? Who did he have on, Princess Diana, Jesus and live music from Mozart?

29th December 1991 broadcast. No idea who was on it.

According to wikipedia, by December 1991 the show had lost 4m viewers and was axed, with the final episode being in July 92, and it was replaced by Eldorado. Seems strange that it had such a high figure around that time, but I suppose possible.

However, the very first episode of Auntie's Bloomers, hosted by Terry Wogan was broadcast on 29/12/1981, so I wonder if it's a mistake?

I actually think it’s one of my EARLIEST MEMORIES. I distinctly remember my Mum buying the ticket from outside Morrison’s. We won £120 and went out for a slap up Indian.

The Bill, Heartbeat, Casualty and Birds Of A Feather all once got well over 15 million viewers.

WHO KNEW?

That Grand National figure too. It must now be lucky to muster a couple of million and we are in the middle of a GAMBLING CRISIS.

I must admit the biggest shock for me has been Last Of The Summer Wine being so popular. I have never witnessed a more bland crock of shit of a show.

My first memory of it is being with my first proper boyfriend, waking up on a Saturday morning with him, then running out first thing to buy a couple of tickets, a packet of durex, and being fucked ragged all day before the live show.

Didn't that combine the Christmas episode with the repeat back then? The Sunday omnibus I mean. I think they always did that.

I don't remember it being quite what it seemed taken on those terms but I could be wrong.
