for my money his most successful foray into synthpop and the beginning of quite a long EDM-adjacent phase - but this one (unlike, say, OMG) I think has aged really well and is my go-to of his bigger smashes. big feel-good tune

I love this. I'll probably be alone, but it's very similar to De Nuit's All That Mattered in verse (hell, even La Toya ripped them off with Feels Like Love, so I guess their influence was also an influx):

I’ve never really liked any of Usher’s dance, EDM or pop efforts. His voice sounds so thin when he’s not doing R&B, reminds me of NeYo.
