There is a part of me, 15 years later, that still cannot get over how good this song is.

I don't know what to do...

The brilliance, the audacity of it. the brief bringing back of disco about 14 years before that revival was really ready to go. Really an astonishingly great song which, for me, is not defined by but completely transcends the sample. the bridge ("I can't keep on... waiting... for you / I know that you're still hesitating...") is like hearing God, to me this is what pop music is all about.

in many ways the lyrics now even feel like a commentary on Madonna - not to even get into the nature of the comeback, the iconography, everything around it. Hung Up is still a fucking masterpiece :disco:

I LOVED this at the time. It felt like a HUGE EVENT.

I'm over it now. Still enjoy much of the album though. And the tour was SOMETHING ELSE.

Omg thanks for letting me continue this evening’s mid-00s throwback :disco:

This was on in ASDA yesterday and I had a little dance when making my way down the frozen foods isle :disco:

I was once out in some GROT DIVE in Berlin MANY MOONS AGO, and the DJ slipped in the full length (album?) version of this in-between a set entirely consisting on INDUSTRIAL METAL. It was actually life itself, and that the entirely straight clientele loved it just as much as I did as the SOLE GAY in attendance really was the definition of life itself :disco:

Such a personally magical disco moment, and for that I will forever be thankful.

9/10

I had a very similar experience in ://about blank in berlin. the dj was playing this enjoyable but standard soft techno set and suddenly he broke it to play How Will I Know by Whitney. An entire floor full of people who were too cool to dance fucking lost their shit to one of the great synthpop songs of the 80s :disco: and then it was over, the entire crowd resumed their techno shuffle and it was like it never happened. honestly an iconic moment in my club going life to date!

Not sure I'd describe How Will I Know as synth. Still a banger however.

A magical moment you should cherish FOR LIFE! :disco:

I think this was the last time a Madonna-song had the "wow-effect" for me. I like many of the newer songs but just not as much.

Oh it's a bonafide TEN as sure as the day is long but Get Together is my favourite song on the album.

I wonder if that would have been SWITCHED though, if GT had been the first single. Which would have been a misstep.

TRANSCENDENT

I’m not the type of girl to get a new song and listen to it on loop, but I rinsed this one out 50 times on the first night :disco:

An 11

There's something about this that is just magic. She could have relied on the sample, but instead she enhanced it. One of those songs that impossible not to dance to.

Despite her terribleness for the past few years (music and behavior), she will always be forgiven for creating this and others like it. She deserves to be ridiculous and make a fool of herself forever

I love her for what she WAS and the multiple moments of joy she brought to my life so she will always have a place in my heart, but I have great trouble overlooking or forgiving what she IS, especially the ghastly THAT’LL DO approach and unnecessarily brittle, defensive personality. Above all I find her to be a terrible disappointment these days, but only because I emotionally invested in and trusted her for so many years

Anyway I’m off for a little sob to ‘Get Together’ :disco:
