There is a part of me, 15 years later, that still cannot get over how good this song is.
I don't know what to do...
The brilliance, the audacity of it. the brief bringing back of disco about 14 years before that revival was really ready to go. Really an astonishingly great song which, for me, is not defined by but completely transcends the sample. the bridge ("I can't keep on... waiting... for you / I know that you're still hesitating...") is like hearing God, to me this is what pop music is all about.
in many ways the lyrics now even feel like a commentary on Madonna - not to even get into the nature of the comeback, the iconography, everything around it. Hung Up is still a fucking masterpiece
