Eurovision 2021: The running order

I always hated the phrase BLOC VOTING, like it’s a conspiracy.

I hate when British people get the arse, we just don’t really have a bloc, just Ireland and maybe Malta. And even then we hardly trade 12s anymore because UK and Ireland keep voting for Lithuania and Malta was bought by Azeri oligarchs

I mean, you can't have less neighbours than Portugal, a country who sends songs nobody has time for, but they managed to win recently sending something... let's say "different to anything else that year, and that SOMEHOW it connected with people all over Europe. And that would happen to UK or any other country with the right song, @Rita. You can't just send anything and then say it's all political because they don't vote for it.

Just finished another Eurovision lesson and the overwhelming favourite was Sweden. Children started standing up and singing CAN YOU HEARRRRRRR.

my favourite comment from the scoresheets was one girl gave Ukraine 1/10 and wrote ‘to childish’

Token negativity for the UK’s song that isn’t anywhere near as bad as people want it to be, brought to you by the same posters who shit a lung over Samanta Tina.

OMG would you STOP saying that. I have said UMTEEN TIMES that it is not just down to the fact of political votes and our songs are never up to par. Stop @ing me with the same argument when I have answered your query SEVERAL TIMES and if you cared to read my first post properly I stated in there that our song isn’t good enough. SHEESH.

I always laugh at how much everyone hates us for political reasons when other participants have shelled other countries in the last 12 months (one right NOW!)

and most of Europe is probably further right than the UK anyway, what are they angry at?

Also do Europe really HATE US? Seems like British exceptionalism to think they give us THAT MUCH THOUGHT, I’m sure most Europeans don’t have much of an opinion EITHER WAY.

Not me. I recognise both as rubbish in very different ways.

People just use the political argument to spout their blatant xenophobia (not our Reet btw)

I know you need more than that to WIN, and I said in my first post regarding the matter that the song is just OK, so isn’t good enough and doesn’t really deserve (in my opinion) to do well but those neighbouring countries who share language and culture throwing each other maximum points prevents them from being on the right hand side of the board every bloody year.
Yes, obviously some countries start with a few points, because they're gonna have some votes no matter what they send, and that's a fact. But hey, UK is always in the final and doesn't have to go through the semifinals, what about that? And to be honest, I hated when Andorra gave us the 12 points because most of them there were Spaniards.

I think we need to all sit down and remember why we all love each other

come on guys you know the words
Love, shine a light to every corner…

Cyndi should have gone for us in whatever year that was? I liked that song.

I knew it was a mistake for the schools to ban capital punishment.

But you're right about that! It's true that some neighbours always vote each other (Cyprus and Greece always exchange 12 points and get booed by the audience), and it's true countries like UK don't have that, what I mean it's not so relevant and it's not the reason why we do so badly. Of course some other countries could send any shit and would get quite a few points, but they have to go through a semifinal, so if it's that bad they'll probably be disqualified.

Ag's Katy B comment has STRUCK A CHORD. Imagine if the buzzwords for the BBC were something other than 'catchy', 'radio-friendly' and 'inoffensive'

Nobody was ever claiming Samanta Tina was GOOD aside from Samanta herself! :D We've been ripping on her non-stop since 2020!

I cannot WAIT to never have to hear the name JAMES NEWMAN ever again :hostage:

Quite!

I mean this performance is a bit rough round the edges, but there's a TUNE, there's ENERGY, it's FUN, it's MEMORABLE, it's NOT SHIT and it's ALL BRITISH TALENT. We have it, we just DON'T USE IT!

Why not STEPS? Some of their new music would be AMAZING for this, surely?

Of what nationality were your kids?

I guess part of the PROBLEM IS, most of our TALENT become STARS for GOOD REASON. Why do Eurovision at the PEAK of your career, when you could be making millions touring, traveling the world etc? In much smaller countries, they don't have the NATURAL ACCESS to WORLDWIDE FAME that the UK does, so many of them DO send their BEST.

This makes sense.

Hurricane from Serbia who are GAGGING for a bigger platform being a prime example of this.

I guess the last time we did it was when BONNIE TYLER used Eurovision to try and flog her new album :D That was a WEIRD YEAR!

Bless everyone being all HET UP with all the excitement of the BIG DAY!

It was all very much about ATTITUDE in those days and BY JOVE I have always possessed plenty of that.
