WHADDYA THINK?

Nice to see this getting love in the fan polls, but I think it's tough to say how this will do....If I had to guess I'm thinking Portugal 2021 vibes at the moment...strong jury support but a mediocre televote, anywhere from 10-15

Predicting very little in the way of televote support from this, and a decent jury showing. That may still only equate to 18th or so though.

I personally cannot wait until it gets a higher televote than poor old hostage to fortune Cornelia

I am curious about where it would have to place on the final scoreboard to be considered a success (either by Moopy/British Eurofans in general or the UK press). Top ten? Top fifteen? Anything above last place?

I think anything but a win would be seen as a failure (or BREXIT SNUB) by some quarters of the press. Top ten would be a genuine return to form (top 15 whilst not terrible is still pretty tepid).

I’d say left hand side. I suppose a lot also depends on any hype and momentum he has going into the final.

From a fan perspective, we finished top fifteen with Lucie so left hand side of the board feels like the next logical step.

Top 15 would be our best result in a decade, so I think objectively that could be considered a good showing (although possibly slightly disappointing in comparison to expectations?). For the general public I reckon it needs to be top ten to be sold as a success.

I think a significant proportion of the general public still thinks we have some kind of divine right to a win, and yes, other other than that is failure.

Disregarding fan expectations, I think top 15 would still be a moderate success, top 10 a significant one, and anything better a real bonus it's hard to comprehend.

Stars need to align (no pun intended) and he won't have an easy a run as Cornelia, Stefania (and maybe Brividi, but I feel the wheels coming off slightly on that?), but as long as everything goes right I can see it coming top 10.

If he gets a shit running order, messes up the performance even a little bit, has crap staging, or anything else unfortunate I think he'll fail unfortunately. Everything crossed that doesn't happen and I DO have more faith in him than I ever did James Newman, Surie, and the other one.

Loving this razor sharp analysis.

I agree that anything less than a victory won’t do a thing to shift the narrative when it comes to the Philip Schofield’s of this world. Especially if it does end up going to Ukraine.

But if you give a fuck what those people think then you’re on a hiding to nothing either way.

It’s still not top 200 on UK Spotify btw. A little surprising given the exposure it’s been getting.

True but I think a left hand side finish would(hopefully) be enough to lure TAP back into working with BBC again next year and continue on this the path. Hopefully with someone with Sams talent, but with a song which is a little less MOR.

The level of promotion and radio support Sam has reiceived going into the contest is incomparable to any of our acts since perhaps, Blue, and that sure as heck hasn´t been down to the BBC alone.

For me I need it to be a top 10, or I will be happily joining Philip and Lorraine on the Monday morning after the contest saying it's time to withdraw.

Have we ever had a non-white spokesperson before?

I mean granted, these days Rylan and Amanda Holden are closer to MAHOGANY…

I hope they are going to say Manchester and not Salford!

Spaceman up to B-list on Radio 1
Have to say im (pleasantly) surprised by that. I thought it would be a reluctant add to the C-list and then dissapear after a few weeks.

I guess A list will depend on how we do in 2 weeks time.
