To be honest I’d take it at this point that she’s doing it, and they just haven’t announced anything in case she needs to pull out at the last minute.

Moldova and Macedonia are both showing all 3 shows, which I guess is tentatively a good sign (although Macedonia did the same the last couple of years too), as is the Faroese broadcaster and Peacock on streaming in the US (the main effect of which seems to be blocking all the official channel's YouTube links in North America). No random outlier like Chile or the like so far though :(

Yuck, it's like that awful MGP format with the golden tickets. Needlessly cruel and CLUNKY. Also if you're not called as the qualifier early on then you're potentially to be called again and again aren't you?

Think I can guess who's idea this was! :Lumo:

I still think if they're desperate to shake something up, they should do SOMETHING for the audience in the actual arena. They mostly can't vote, so

Why not do a "golden ticket" style thing where someone gets advanced to the final based solely on the highest non-qualifying audience vote? Or otherwise, put someone through FIRST based SOLELY on the audience.

Imagine the FUN last year with something like ZORRA sailing to the final (I know they're already there) and suddenly being considered a contender :D

I don't think this qualifier reveal needs to be inherently bad necessarily, but my god it just reeks of television production wankery and obsession with solving problems that aren't there or "innovating" for the sake of it.

I've heard interviews over the years with the likes of Christer who say how frustrating and impractical it is to have four cameras in the greenroom trying to track 16 artists at a time, so this feels like a clear attempt to mitigate for that, but literally nobody watching at home notices or cares about this, so what's the point in tinkering?

I can sort of understand five groups of three that each contain two qualifiers and one non-qualifier, but making some acts sit through multiple reveals and not make it does sound cruel.

God I hate this excessive need to tinker.

It’s going to be so tension-killing when they draw the WHO COULD IT POSSIBLY BE? trio of Sweden, Portugal and Croatia. :DAF:
Also what I like about the current way qualifiers are announced is the relative equity between contestants: the camera shows everyone and no country is highlighted until announced as a finalist.

This new formula could be unnecessarily cruel: for example we KNOW Montenegro or Croatia are unlikely to make it through, but there is no need to double it down by including them only once in the split-screen moment, or the other way around by showing them failing to go through all the time...
